Interesting but I wonder if it is just to stir up discussion ...

It seems to ignore that like any system it is the driver who
will optimize how it functions. Having driven ESC cars on
road courses for four years, it doesn't make you go faster!
It does limit the mistakes but at the cost of slowing you
down from what is possible. If you are absolutely smooth it
will let you get right to the edge but any bobble and it
comes into play and that slows you down, the more off the
optimum you are and it slows you more. Actually it doesn't
limit the mistakes, it limits the consequences of mistakes.
All that said, I too agree that it would be a mistake in F1.

ESC would be a step in the wrong direction for F1. With new talent like Hamilton on the scene, the sport should do everything to emphasize the human contribution. I have followed F1 continuously since 1975 and I believe the advent of the sequential shift and later the automatic transmission(though hand shifted) not to mention reallowing traction control in 2001 have degraded the sport. I remember when the cars started off with a full tank of fuel, 1 set of tires and 1 botched shift would lose the race. I also thought the 9,6,4,3,2,1 point system was better.

Yuck
F1 is already a bit too technology driven. This season has (had) potential to be really competitive with new cars and engines and no Michael. ESC would not be an improvement, they ought to take more measures to increase driver participation not reduce it.
Of course after watching last night, it looks like another Ferrari runaway. They are actually getting off to a good start now with a victory and Massa's comeback from PLast. Kimi got so far ahead he fell asleep about 3 laps from the end.
Vettes 1-2 at Sebring and the NASCRAP bang bang finish in GT2 its gonna be a great racing year
