What happen???? The GT1 results from Sebring shows only three cars. Accident? Late wake up call? Where were the Panzor and Aston Martins???
Does this mean that the GT1 class is dead?

Yes, another version could run in GT2, but with no where near the modifications the C6R has. The C6R is like a NASCAR vehicle. A purpose built race car with corvette shaped skins. To run in GT2 the mods would be made to a street version.

Yeah, the GT1 class of ALMS is in pretty deep trouble. Three started, three finished. It's not interesting at all to watch the C6Rs run against each other.

We need Dodge to get a new Viper out there mixing it up with the boys.
We need a US team with deep pockets to buy an Aston Martin DBR9.
We need Acemco and Konrad to hook up and run one or two Saleen S7Rs in the class.

Couldn't believe it when I saw it, or didn't see it that it is - the LMP1 Audi's and Acura's got most of the air time. Like watching the Super Bowl and only one team showed up. What a shame. Guess it's a case of, "if we can't beat the Corvettes, we just won't play anymore." Corvette Racing should save the embarrassment (and the money) and withdraw from the series.

Please try to understand, there is more at stake than the ALMS Series which runs in the USA.
The Vette Team uses this series as a practice and tune up for the most famous road race on the Planet; The 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Besides, they had been led to believe that the Aston Martin team would be there this year to really compete. With the Company's new owners there might be racing in the future.

Locke,
Good to see you a Sebring, sorry it had to be under our Kumho canopy in the pouring rain. At least you got to check out our Kumho Models.
We are happy with our podium finish in P2 with the NEW Intersports car. We were the only other Tire manufacture to have a podium except for Michelin who swept all the classes.

I was happy to have a Kumo tent to stand under. Now I've had Kumos under and over me!
Your team did well, should do a little better with the correct size tire.
Will you get to Savannah for the Double National this summer?

With all the customers cars in GT2 you would think Chevy would wake up and start selling GT2 prepped Vettes!
Really, why doesn't ALMS kill off GT1, and have everyone run in GT2 which
1) sells cars, both at the track and the street
2) is more relevant to production
It would also be nice if the SpeedGT cars could run in that class.

I agree, but then when GM went into the ALMS program, didn't they say they intended to have customer cars, simular to the way Porsche supplies an almost ready to race car?

Right, they have customer GT1 cars, they need customer GT2 cars
Sell enough, and you pay for the program.
I'm sure that's what Porshe and Ferrari are doing.
Look how successful the Viper Competition Coupe Program is.

Well - it might be a posibillity.
If things goes as planned our brand new developed Corvette Z06 for the Le Mans Series ( in europe and Brasil ) will be a very strong GT2 car as the season progress.
It will be easy to addapt the car to ALMS - all you need are some big american companies, and then by them race prepared from us at Markland Racing.
