273mph on a public highway with guardrails sounds fairly dangerous; I wonder who is going to drive it. Its a good thing they got their downforce calculations done properly.

Well if I win Lotto I'll be getting one of them for HPDE's. I would probably only attend one event with the new car as it would likely be my last event. Wonder what it would pull down the front of Pocono
I have read about the car before and the price of them is not that bad considering what it does. LPE/John took a stock bodied Firebird to near 300. He wanted to be the first to break 300 in a stock bodied car how ever the figure that. John RIP
http://www.shelbysupercars.com/ looks nice!
power to weight ratio 2.33
Thanks for posting it I will be following it. I heard a while back they would attemp it but sometimes in is just hype and BS so I am glad and hopeful the USA will have the fastest production car soon!

How does the Callaway Sledgehammer fit into all of these? I assume the Veyron gets the production car record since a certain number are made albeit a very small number. But the Sledgehammer did do 254 and it was from a normal C4 IIRC.
The only thing that scares me about this is the fact that its an open road, I can only imagine hitting an animal at those speeds.

picture of the brakes makes them look a bit light for a 275 MPH car

specs say 8 piston front car show 4 piston unless they count 4 each side?
I would want a btter brake than this http://www.ssbrakes.com/ but it may be fine.

SSC is really pushing the definition of "production car" with this...I would think to be production, you'd have to meet the 25 car (FIA/ACO) homologation rule, with a car that is certified street legal. Last time I checked, SSC wasn't even registered as a manufacturer with NHTSA. Should be interesting regardless.

it still is a chevrolet V8 engine in that car, the Twin turbo version produced a little more power over the supercharged version, well a little compared to all that power =P both are above 1000 HP
But still, this car may be fast, REALLY fast but it sure is ugly >.<
And oh yeah, about the brakes thats quite funny, the front brake disks look like those rear brakes on the C6, another fast car with no control I guess?
