New universal camcorder mount from Hardbar
We have a new camcorder mount that fits not only the large diameter (2 inch) diameter Hardbar harness bars, but will fit other brands as well down to 1.5 inches in diameter. It can be used above the bar, below the bar, in front or towards the rear. It is CNC machined from DuPont Delrin (the **** is phenolic resin) so it will not mar or scratch the powdercoating on the bar and is lightweight. It also has a quick release feature where you insert the stainless steel stud with the supplied allen wrench, spin on the **** (with a brass thread insert), slide it into the slot and move slightly to the side to engage the desired notched location and tighten the ****. It allows you to position the camera along the bar, point it up, down, left, right. This is the first one, and production versions will be a little more rounded off in the corners, but the kit includes everything shown here including all stainless steel fasteners and even the allen wrenches. The best news, is it is the same price as before, $120! Many Thanks to Solidworks for the awesome software!

The R-D bar does have a mount, but it's simply a piece of 3/16 flat plate that bolts to the bar and centered in one spot. I use a Sony Hi-8 camera and I have to use wedges to get the camera level enough to be able to properly frame the video display so the images aren't cut off at the top or bottom.
I like the slot cut into Gary's mount and the extra stud It looks like some simple triangular inserts would be all that is needed to provide a flat surface for square harness bars.

Well, if you think about it, this double "V" groove mount only contacts a round bar in 4 tangent lines so there is no difference if it only contacts the round edge square tube with 4 tangent lines. I measured it for a 1.5 inch square and it is basically has the same contact lines as a 1 3/4 round. Then you have tilt, pan, left and right so you can point it at your dashboard for a poor man's data acq, or from the LH side to see your pedals, etc.

C4 install pics and videos
Brian Cunningham came over today and gave it a test on his C4. The video is boring footage of the roads around my house. The roads are very rough due to frost heaves but the image remains very stable.
