Default Questions for C5 people running all 17s at the track (or elsewhere)

What width wheels and what size tires do you run?
I'm assuming 9.5" width wheels with 275/40 tires for the front?
335/35-17s in the rear, and if so, would you run 11 or 11.5" width wheels?
Finally, would there be any fitment/rubbing issues with a rear setup using 335 tires and either of the two aforementioned wheel widths?
Thanks for your input.

I run 9.5x17 front and 11x17 rear. Mostly, I run either 315x17 front or 295x17. I'll run 275x17 front if I have to. Rears are 315x17. Those don't rub at all.

We run 17x10" in front and 11" in back...in T1. We used to be able to run 335s in back. I always used a spacer in the back to avoid any rubbing issues. Some Vettes will...some won't...depends on the car and how it's aligned, build tollerances, etc.

Most folks run 315s all around and I'll run 275s up front on some tracks.

Not sure if this helps but I came across this article in Vette magazine about 17" rims and tires.

There's also the Hoosier 295s that you can run up front

John at Racewheel (CCW) will make you some "Texas T-1s" which are 10.5 front, /11.5 rear. These are obviously not legal for SCCA T-1 (as Chris will point out) but are ideal for 275s front/315s rear. You can also run 315s all around with these if you want, but in my experience the 315s up front interfere with brake ducting and don't give an advantage over the smaller, lighter 275s. This is with Kumhos.

335s in the rear are theoretically OK but probably will not work well if you have enough camber in the rear to start with - they will rub on the top of the inside well.

What size wheel spacer and can one be used with the factory studs?
Don't want to go to the ARP long studs.

leave enough of the threads engaged on the stud to match the diameter of the stud would be the minimum. I'd leave a few extra.

Thanks John. I only need a hair more clearance and the 335s on the CCws will clear. I got a faint rub on the very top edge of the tire. I put small screws in the wheel well inner fender into the cabin to pull it up snug. There is a bit of slop in the inner fenders fit to the body.

I'll measure it off with my calipers and probably use a 1/8" spacer just to get a hair more clearance.
