Anybody have personal experience with Carbotech pads? I'm thinking about getting them for my LS2 GTO. When I talked to their tech guy, he said that I need to either resurface my current rotors or get new ones as their compound isn't compatible with the semi-metallics that I've already used on these rotors. I would also have to switch over to their street pads in order to use a single pair of rotors. So, if I want to use thier pads, I'm looking at $300 for a pair of rotors (GTO front rotors are freaking expensive and nobody makes a cheap replacement rotor) plus $197 for XP12s and another $107 for a set of their street pads. They claim 2-3x the pad and rotor life, less dust, and no noise. If that's true, they could be the perfect pads. Can anybody comment?
Thanks,
Matt

While it's probably a good idea to resurface the rotors. I took my original Z06 rotors that had 15K miles of street use with Z06 pads. Put on a set of XP8's on all 4 corners and bedded them in. Ran a couple of track weekends and had no problem. I was switching back to the Z06 pads after the track event.
On my current rotors I was using some ceramic low dust pads for the street. I put a set of XP10/XP8 on, bedded them in, and went to the track a couple of days later. I had no problems at all.
YMMV.... Graham

I run Performace Friction on my C-4 and stepped into a friend's C-4 at an autocross. He has Carbotech.
Wow, what a huge difference in braking power. The initial bite is much higher than my PFs.
