Default C5Z rear wheels on front of C6Z?

I've heard of people running C5Z 18x10.5s all around....do they stick out at all up front? Any clearance issues? Pictures would be great.

Thanks in advance....

I am in a similar predicament as a new C6Z06 owner. After you find/buy (4) 10.5" Z06 rims you are close to the cost of the C6Z06 rims and don't get the benefit of the wider rear rim.

My answer was to buy repro's for the street and use the stocker for the track. This way I don't sacrafice strength with the repo's at the track. In the end you can get repo's for about $700 in stock C6Z06 sizes which is what you'll pay for C5Z06 rims anyway and they are smaller in diameter....

Nope, aint gonna work, NO, not possible...

Unless you put C5 rotors & calipers on, then it would work.

I 1st started running track tires on my stock front 18's and bought 18x12" (C5Z06 style) for the rear. Now the R6 comes in 19"'s so I used the stock front and rears.

I'm not using the rear 18"x12"s if anyone is interested in them.

C5 Z rims (18" only) will clear other big brake packages, such as Stoptechs, so I think you should measure before jumping to conclusions.

Did you try a C5Z rear wheel on the front yourself?

I may be interested in the rears...you can email me at DoctorV8@gmail.com.

I'll have a C6Z in my shop tomorrow night. I'll throw some c5 Z06 repros on the front and see if they clear.

Hey Sanjay!
I'll be curious if this works for you and if so how you like the set-up!
Thanks!

Sorry, didn't work. Those calipers are about 1/4" thicker than anything I've seen before. Too bad they put those crappy pads in, as the Calipers look really beefy!

Could do it with spacers, but then you'd need longer studs.

No I didn't try them myself as I didn't have any, but I did do a lot of research and listened to those that did. As David found out they were correct. Those calipers are huge, not to mention the extra 1/2" diameter on the rotors.

I just revisited this post so I will email you about the wheels.

Diameter not a problem, just the caliper thickness. Rotor size is nothing special.

Hhmmmm.... C-5 Z06 rims work for me. I ran them on my 07 Z06 @ Road Atlanta.

I do have custom two piece rotors on the front... the Kuhmo V710 315/18 tires rub just a bit under full lock... but they also rubbed on my 04 Z06.

Calipers seem to work OK... I'm happy with them... so far.

There is some variance from rim make to rim maker. Trumper, are those OEM 18x10.5's??? If so, that's great news. However, I wish you would have chimed in before I went to the trouble to try it with my repros

Whoa, that's a semi-good news

I was under impression that the OEM 18x10.5 Z06 wheels could not clear C6 Z06 calipers (in lateral direction, not in radial direction). Maybe now I can spend the money for a set and pimp my car :P

Anyone knows if the 19x10.5 SSR Comp-H would clear the calipers ?

David, they are OEM Z06 rims. It's a close fit between the rim & caliper... but the wheels do spin freely. The slight rubbing is the inside of the tire on the inner fender well... same as on an C-5 Z06, when you turn the wheel to full-lock. I checked the rims after 3 days at Road Atlanta... there is no sign of calipers rubbing the spokes.

Also please note: I do have custom 2 piece rotors! The hat section looks to be the same thickness, but I have NOT measured them compared to the stock rotors. Nor Have I mounted the C-5 Z06 wheels to the car using the stock rotors.

If the guys use repo's.. they made need to use a spacer & longer lug studs.

Another question. Are the wheels made by Alcoa or Speedline ?

I have a pair of both Alcoa & Speedline. As I recall... I mounted the forged (Alcoa) wheels on the front. I don't think there will be a difference in the OEM wheels but I will check next month when I prep the car for the BMW/Barber event.

You have the same setup as mine. Two Alcoas and two Speedlines. There is a little difference but I need to check again. My Alcoas do a minor rub the upper control arms. I have since rotated the tires, but so far I haven't heard the Speedlines rubbing. Who knows there is a difference with lateral clearance with C6 Z06 brakes.

BTW, thank you for doing this, I have been looking for this info for many many months.

Just go on the C6 Part forum and find someone selling a set of C6Z06 rims. I came accross several for under $1000. Also, you can buy repo's for the street on e-bay (house of wheels) for $700-850 and use the stock rims for the track.

You'll pay that much for a set of C5Z06 OEM or repo anyway and they are not as wide.

repros are available for the c5 at less than $500, and I would bet they can be had for the c6 similarly priced. I got mine from OEM wheels of Florida, on ebay.
