Default Fellas... do these brake pads have another track event in them?

Ran them at VIR in 3/06 (Mazdadrivers North Course), VIR in 6/06 (Mazdadrivers Grand Course) and VIR again in 10/06 (Synergy Racing Fall Fling) so they have 6 track days on them (3 events).

They're Wilwood H's... I have allready bought a new set of XP12s and XP10s on the way, but don't want to chuck these if they're ok.

They look good to me! Any taper or grooves/ridges?

^ A little taper, I try to flip them every event... when are they dead?

When the groove is gone?

They are dead when you push your brake pedal down and nothing happens. Just measure them and see how much thickness is left. You can figure out how much you use p/event and see if you have enough left to run another event. However, you don't want them to be so thin that they heat up.

Not including the backing plate. Fronts measure .375 new, rears .425. If you use the backing plate add .200.

When you are down to .100 they're probably going to not dissipate heat too well and possibly crack. Take a measurement before you go to a track. Look at how much time/miles you logged for the weekend then measure again. You'll know roughly how much you use for that track. Keep a record for each track.

Some clubs say show up with at least .250. Depends on the track really and how hard you are on brakes.

^ Thanks... guess I was a bit premature buying new pads, but hey now I have backups incase I burn through these.

Running Grand course this Summer will tax them pretty well.

I agree, look fine to me. I just replaced mine this weekend when they were worn to the point when the groove disappeared. I am running 10's and 8's right now and have a set of 12 and 10 waiting for the next time.

I've run the PF's down to the backing plates.

Once you hit the backing plate, the coefficient of friction really increases

I like at least 1/3 total pad thickness, for heat insulation as much as anything. Those look fine. Maybe 2 or 3 events left in them.

I run them down to about 2/32 of an inch left. I use a tire depth gauge to check them.

I'm cheap. I run them down to the backing plates.

The downside is that the thinner they are, they transfer more heat into pistons. How much more heat? Dunno.

Those look almost new.

Cool... nothing to be worried about then. I'll keep the Carbotech's as spares.

I disagree with everyone else. They look terrible-unsafe-no good -worn out- BUT since I just happen to run H's and need some and you already bought the carbo's- I will try to help out a fellow Vette driver and give you $10.00 for them.

You are truly a stand up kind of guy...

I run them till I hit metal or cannot stand it anymore. Then I run them on the street for a few more weeks....

.20" or until fusion takes place run some ti or mica shims when they get thinner for better resistance to heat transfer.

Where can you get ti or mica shims these days? I remember hardbar selling them, but they stopped. Does anyone make them for the oem calipers, I'm getting some fresh ones and would like to keep the brake dust boots intact this time.
