Default new 91 front hubs fail

I installed new front hubs, loaded car in trailer, Got to the Autocross unloaded drove 100yards to grid and when I got back on my first run both hubs had failed to the point that the abs sensor plastic were dangling form the electrical connection. Any ideas?

What's that old saying? A picture is worth a thousand words.

I'm not familiar with the hub design on a '91, could you have over tightened the axle nut (if there is one?)? Second thought would be the brakes were dragging, but it would be very unlikely to happen to both sides.

Let us know once you figure it out.

Looking forward to your pics.

I took a new one apart recently, I couldn't believe there's plastic parts inside

Though I can't see how you got enough heat into it at an autocross

Are the brake mounts OK?

The ABS sensors on early C4s plugged into the hubs Vs being part of the hubs. Do the 91s use plug in sensors or are the sensors part of the hub?

The autozone hubs will do that. I won't buy from them anymore.
unforturnitly, they appear to be the same as the AC-delco replacment hubs. (except the box). I havn't found a replacement yet for front hubs that hold up.

The rear hubs from NAPA hold up beautiful.

CentralCoaster and others organized a compendium of C4 wheel bearing
information in this thread.

Alternate p/n for wheel bearings, pics, cheaper prices...

I had a problem close to this a few years back. Had just gotten the front wheel bearings replaced. Went down to an NCCC high speed at Roebling Road. Was out on a parade lap at slower that full speed and the front left wheel goes flying off into the woods! The brand new bearing failed and the rotor broke in half while the wheel was on its way out. I got lucky it didnt really hurt the body. The other front bearing was about to fail when we looked the car over once I got flat towed in.

OUCH!

Do you still have the pieces?

I'd like to see what they look like.
