Default Altamont Speedway needs your help!

Im copying/pasting this from another forum. I believe this was on jalopnik in the last week too. These people are absolutely crazy for what theyre trying to do:

From Grassrootsmotorsports.com board,

This isn't just a drifting issue. I have several friends who are heavily involved in this on the drifters/Altamont side and it has been interesting to say the least.

This whole thing started when the Rivards bought the 50+ acres next to Altamont Motorsports Park with the intention of buying the track itself and closing it down. Their attempts at buying the track were bested by John Condren, who stepped up and paid more for it. The Rivard morons decided that even though the track was undergoing a huge rebuild, they would still build their dream shack, I mean house, 120 feet from the Raceway. Now they are pissed off because of the noise and the fact that they were outbid in their attempt at purchasing AMP.

The Rivards and their dumbass"Community for a Better Altamont" brought this fight to the Alameda County East Board of Zoning Adjustments and were slapped down handily the first time around. They decided to appeal to the Board of Supervisors of Alameda County with testimonies from people about how drifters bring alcohol, drugs, and gang affiliations to Altamont every time they show up for events, which is completely false. One lady who doesn't even live anywhere near the track testified that the "screeching from the drifters tires can seriously damage her and her children's hearing". As a result, this appeal got not only drifting banned, but also sprint car racing, sports car racing, figure 8 racing, autocross events, midget racing, kart racing, motorcycle racing, supermoto events, enduro racing, driving schools, gymkhanas, and club rallies from Altamont Motorsports Park. The only form of racing that wasn't banned was NASCAR.

If any of you in CC.com land want to help out, send an email, call, or fax a letter to the following people. Let them know and be heard that you support racing and/or drifting in Alameda County.

A simple 1 minute phone call will help or letter will help keep racing and drifting alive in Northern California.

Mr. Chris Bazar, Planning Director, is a GOOD GUY and friends to drifters and Altamont Motorsports Park… so don’t take your frustration out on him! Instead, be supportive and positive.
