Default Results From My 1st Scca Dbl Regional T1 Race

WOW! What fun it was. Now if I can only find that money tree in my yard so I can do some more. lol It was a very nice weekend for racing with 70 degrees and sunshine both days.

Saturday

Unfortunatley, I was the only T1 Corvette car there with one SP Porsche, one GT1 Car,one ITE Corvette and some ITS guys too. I thought since I had no competition, I would see if I could even get close to the T1 record to judge myself. The record was held by Freddy Baker from 2001 with a 1:43.642. I would have been happy getting with in 2 seconds of the record, but the awesome PHOENIX car that Joe and the guys build rocked out a 1:42.456 on Saturday to break a 6 year old T1 record. Porsche broke on the 2nd lap and I got by the GT1 car and gained a 1/4 mile gap. Then poor old David Hitchcock from Detroit region got into the tire wall pretty hard in turn 2 with his AS Camaro. That brought out the full coarse yellow with 2 to go and we finished under that. Sorry about the car David, Glad you were ok though!

Sunday

Qualified 1st overall with a 1:41.753. Had the GT1 next to me ready to pounce and he did when the green flew. I need some of that good HP he had. lol Completed that 15 lapper with no issues except for just missing the 2 ITS cars that were dooking it out in front of me and the one spun, hit the tire wall and came back on track with me about SHI**ING myself. Steered hard left and just missed him. I was also able to lower my record from Saturday another 2 tenths to a 1:42.267.

The KUMHO V710's were great as well & very consistant for the 15 lap race. The track is very rough in some spots but was still a blast to run. The Hawk pads worked very well to and gave me no problems.

Thank you to DANNY POPP (RAFT) for helping me out over the phone with a few minor repair tips I had to do. I hope to get 2 more regionals in so I can do some Nationals this year and meet some more great people.

Here are a few pictures from this past weekend.

Aaron,

Nice report. Looks like you are doing very good out there at almost 1.5 seconds faster than the track record. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

Indianapolis Raceway Park (Now ORP)

Thanks! The only thing I own is the car. I have a very good boss that lets me take the big rig when not in use. It just so happens to match my car pretty well huh!

Very nice Aaron. Other than the buimps what did you think of the layout?? I'll second the nice rig / car combo.

Other than bumps I really liked the track, except for the last turn coming onto the drag strip. That is not a place to late brake or try to make up time. I just cruise thru there and make sure I am straight on the strip.

Thanks Falcon! Hope to come your way someday so we can meet. Heard & read a lot of good things about you.

Rasrboy, good job my friend! I met you at Road Atlanta at the Mitty. I talked to you at the Kumho trailer. If you could, pm me about what we had talked about on that Saturday. I am the one the yellow Zo6 from B,ham. Thanks, David Leonard.

I was out there on Saturday visiting with a few friends running a Formula Ford car. I saw your car out there at the back of the lot, wish I would have stopped by. Next time I'll know.

Congrats, sounds like a great weekend for you!

Nicely done fellow Kumho brother....
Now, just keep your nose clean for a few more races and get to the Nationals, where you'll have somebody to run against! Looking forward to it!!
