Default Anyone running T1 swaybars on otherwise stock C6 Z06?

My C6 Z06 will be taken frequently (2-3 times per month) to the Nurburgring and I'm planning on a few upgrades over the next few months (SS brake lines, RB pads/bolts, possibly dedicated track wheels/R6s). Is anyone running T1 bars on an otherwise stock suspension? Seems like a pretty good bang-for-the-buck mod. The roads I drive on around here are pretty good, so I'm not too worried about harshness on uneven surfaces or anything like that.

Opinions on the T1 bars?

I also noticed that the T1 bars seem to be the exact same ones from GM as used on the C5. Is that correct?

(I posted these questions over on the C6 Z06 forum, but got zero responses after a day... )

I think the Z06 has stiffer rear bars than the T1 already.... Maybe do front only, but I don't have the numbers in front of me.

The stock rear Z06 swaybar is 1mm smaller then the T-1 bars. But is a lot lighter in weight-smaller gauge tube.

I would be very interested in this as well. But for the price of the T1 bars, you can buy the fully adjustable PFADT competition bars which are far nicer and can be dialed in easily for street vs. track.

I would like to hear about a C6Z06 with T1/Pfadts bars and LG coil-overs. I think for the price, that could be the ticket for this car.

I raced my C5Z06 with a stock suspension and the T1 bars for several years - loved it!!!! The bars alone are a great improvement and maybe the biggest bang for the buck out there (other than Carbotechs). I'm sure it's a similar situation with the C6.

I have the T1 bars with LG Coilovers on my C6Z. The new T1 bars are ajustable on the rear. One of the best mods I have made to the car.

Size and stiffness do not correllate necessarily.

Not only performance, but ride is improved. Steering is somewhat stiffer.

If you take turn 3 at VIR at 75 MPH in a Z06 you will reduce your body lean from 3* to 1*.

The T-1 links suck. Strong, but the noise will drive you bananas. I put the stock links in, just as good, and quieter. I mean there is no excuse for the play in those links.

You need the adjustability though...to "zero" the sway bars after you cornerweight the car. If you do this correctly, you shouldn't be hearing much if any noise from the end links...unless they are bad.

If you are getting real noise like clunking, the links are bad. Normally they do transmit more noise than stock links - in my opinion.

My measurements:
Z06 sway bars 31/28 mm. T1 sway bars 38/27mm.
With stock suspension, tires, and alignment, there is a moderate amount of understeer in the C6Z06 at the track (in my experience after one weekend). My concern which I believe is shared by Randy is that the larger T1 front swaybar would only worsen the understeer that is already present. The rear bars are nearly the same. My plan is to try to improve the front grip (wider front tires, more negative camber) before using a larger front sway bar. Possibly the change to coilovers would eliminate this understeer problem and make the T1 bars more appropriate.

The key is an alignment. Any moderate amount of understeer can be easily programmed right out with simple changes in alignment. In a high-speed sweeper, the fatter bars will make all the difference during steady-state cornering over the stock Z06 bars.

Go for the Sway Bar upgrade, also you will need to modify your exhaust so you don't get a rattle from the exhaust hitting the sway bar

I got LG coilovers, with Pfadt sway's, a must mod for track use and even street use, the LG's may be rough ridding for long lasting trips, you might want to do Pfadt...

the car now is more planted to the ground....

So, if the C6Z06 rear sway is actually larger than the T1, then one would only want to get the front bar, and I beleive they only sell them in a pair and the kit is $850!?!? Why would you replace the rear if the T1 bar is smaller?

Also, how could a larger front bar worsen understeer? I would imagine it would create an oversteer effect if anything...

Here is an alternative (if it fits), there is an Addco bar that is about 35mm (actually 34.7 or something) for the C6. It's not as stiff as the 38mm T1, but could compliment the Z06 rear bar well and still provide a decent ride on the street.

http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/prod...E2A4F265433938

I used this on my C5 and was relatively happy. But the real benefit is the price and the fact that you don't have to buy 2 bars to replace one. The Addco bar is $189 vs. the $850 for the T1 pair or Pdfats.

I am personally thinking a set of LG coil-overs and just the front Addco bar for my C6Z06. You are keeping everything under $2500 and have a great set up.
