Default Who's radiator/oil cooler combo

Dewitts, Ron Davis, Be Cool (no oil cooler I think), LG, etc. Looking for performance, easy drop in, etc. Any good or bad stories appreciated. You can PM me if you have any horror stories you'd rather not share in public.

Thanks!

Got a DeWitts, it was a pretty easy install it dropped right in. Only the shroud needed minor clipping. I got one with an oil cooler, but have not hooked it up yet as I have to resolve my trans temps first. Hope this link works: http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...ts%20radiator/

I got approx 20 degree drop (maybe more), and the cooling is tough here with the altitude and the low humidity.

Dewitts driver side EOC here. I saw maybe 25 degrees drop in temp at the track. Install was easy.

Most of the horror stories IMHO relate to the block adaptor for the lines. I have the LPE and it was difficult to not get the lines crashing together.

I'm familiar with the block adapters....just looking for advice on the radiator itself. The last radiator I bought from a well-known vendor came with NO fittings (I mean the OEM style barbs etc, NOT the AN fittings) and I spent a painfull amount of time tracking down everything I needed.

Thanks!

I have got a DeWitts radiator w/EOC......Love the radiator , great fit , drop in installation. If I were to do it again , I would just buy the DeWitts radiator without the EOC . Oil to water coolers aren't as effective with oil temperatures as oil to air....Lets see 280 degree oil into 220 degree water, cant be as effective as oil to 140 mph air with a correctly sized air to oil cooler....

I'll be redoing mine soon.....I have enough stuff on my plate for now...

DeWitts radiator is very nicely built

I just went through this...I have an RD integral oil/water radiator and noticed oil temp increasing on hard, continuous racing conditions...called RD and They recomended not to use that type for racing application...I just flushed oil out and use it as a water cooler. I use PWR or Mocal oil cooler now!

Farmer,
Give me a call and I can sent you up with pieces or the whole package. We use Ron Davis radiators for many different reasons, mostly they just work!

Used the Rippey set up in the C5. Kit was complete and everything fit. A little pricey but when you consider the aggravation of finding and fittiing the parts and pieces I thought it was worth it. Oil temps have been 245 on hot Kershaw days.

Have a Ron Davis that MTI put in . I notice pretty dramatic oil temp differences from the other guys. Last month at Sebring a similar Z had no oil cooling and was running 290ish oil temps. I was never above 220. Cooling temps never above 180. Never have a trans overheat light as i did before the trans cooler. Its mounted in the brake duct on drivers side rear. Also dont have any brake heat issues like some report.

So im happy with the unit I have. No problems to this point.

Have Dewitt's Radiator with EOC on my C4. Had to put together my own hose/adapter kit for the C4 which was fun. Noticed quite a drop in temps on and off the track.

Just ordered one for my new C5 with a hose/adapter kit as I was seeing 290's oil temp on the track.

Wish my aftermarket radiator came with an engine oil cooler.
Seems a better way of doing it than a separate unit.

People like how they preheat the oil for a trailed car, and keep it from getting too cold while driving on the street.

I know integrated units do NOT cool as well as separate coolers, but they do seem to cool enough. With todays synthetic oils, I can live with 260 oil temps. I can NOT live with the 320 oil temps I'm seeing now.

Randy, I'll be in touch.

But that's only if you can feed them separate air.
If the same air goes through one and then the other, the efficiency #'s change.

I like the LG Motorsports radiator with the oil cooler in it. It is the same as some of the guys use in the racing series that they run in.

it is the same size and fit as the stock unit and the lines hook up easy with the adapter.

They have a new radiator for the C6 that can use stock Z51 lines.

Just my 2 cents.

I've installed 2 DeWitts and one Ron Davis via DRM. I'd have to say that they both went in with the same ease. Both truely a direct drop in, yeah they both required a little modification to the fan schroud, but very easy. The Ron Davis unit looked a little more robust to me, but the EOC on the left side of the DeWitts made running lines a little easier, although the ABS pump and upper rad hose kind of make it a push.

IMHO it comes down to cost, who will give you the best price? Because the product IMO is too close to call.

If I'm not mistaken isn't the LG a DeWitts?

DeWitts is easy and holds huge fluid. Great quality. Superior to BeCool

My S/C requires an oil cooler, so I'm selling my old DeWitts with tranny cooler.
