Cool auto-x videos, bad driving!
Here are a couple of C5 auto-x videos from the past weekend taken from two different angles. Watch the door gap on the 1st video as the car corners left to right. Talk about some flex!
Many cones died in the production of these videos :P

My kingdom for 1000 extra RPM!
LOL...1st run there no shift but shifted to 2nd on the next run. It was one of those courses where you needed about an extra 5 MPH in a few sections and you debate whether the shift will make or cost you time.

Our local BMW group had a course like that a month ago. First heat I was always carrying a passenger and was tapping the rev limiter in 1st at 3 different places for short periods. In the afternoon I was running solo and ran the limiter a lot longer, so I started shifting into 2nd. I dropped 3 seconds off my best morning run vs my best afternoon run:

This month's BMW event was, um, a "bit" more open: Tapped the rev limiter in 2nd a couple of times, and well into 3rd on the middle straight:

Have a good one,

Drifting
Here's a vid of the autocross I ran this past weekend, it was a third gear course down the back straightaway, the faster cars were into the triple digits. Back part of the course was so long, the had to drive the corner workers out to the far corner and bring them back after their assignments.

Why you guys are ever in 1st gear I'll never know. Get it into 2nd as soon a possible and concentrate on driving ahead. You have more than enough torque in 2nd at any speed to spin the tires.
Here's a video of one of our courses. This is an Elise but the Z06s ran the same time. Watch how he's turning the wheel long before he gets to the cones. Enjoy, and turn the volume up:

Now that's intense!
