Default Hub bearing bolts... Grade 8?

I need to replace the front hub bearing bolts on my C4, the bolts that hold the bearing to the spindle. Are hardware store grade 8 bolts sufficient?

Assuming that it is not a counterfeit grade 8, it should do the trick. If you have a "Fastenal" bolt store nearby, you can get some stainless Grade 8 (and pay more of course) and be assured of getting a quality bolt.

There is no such thing as a "grade 8" metric fastener, and they are M12x1.75 on the bearings. The grading of Metric (ISO) fasteners is different than SAE fasteners, see the chart here:
