Default Hoosier AS305 for Road Course????

I purchased some discontinued AS305's from Hoosier over the winter when I thought I was going to try some Autocross this summer. Cincinnati region is struggling for parking lots to run events so I was considering trying some hpde events and using the tires but not sure if they loose grip to fast. Has anyone run either AS304 or AS305's at track events for multiple laps and heats? If so what can I expect or is it suicide to use them?

I would go ahead and run them -- probably will not get the same life as a set of the R tires. It is better than letting them dry rot in the garage. Several of the race teams use them for qualifying, so running them on the track should not be a problem.

I'd run them. Watch the shoulders for wear. They like a lot of camber.

They felt pretty good to me but you may want to rotate them sometime during the day. At Gingerman we ran them for about a 150 miles and sliced the shoulders right off of the left sides. 40 psi hot all around but Gingerman is very abrasive and VERY hard on tires.

A friend had a set at Putnam Park and they fell off really badly after a few laps. Worse, the outer shoulder looked like they had been filed off the angles were so sharp. This was all the way to the cord and it only took 3 sessions. It was a C5 Z06 and he had all the camber you can get in the stock Z06 suspension. If you can't get a bunch of camber cranked into the front, and unless he is some weird anomaly, you will really burn them up fast. Do what you like, i would try to unload them to Auto X'rs and get some different tires.

I have run them but at Putnam. I have 1.5 degrees negative camber and ran 40+ lbs pressure hot. They held up quite well on a two day HPDE. When the air was really hot and the sun was full on the track they were really greasy feeling. As the cloud cover came in the tires came back and were great.
Mike

p.s. In the end, I deceided autocross tires would not be my tires of choice for HPDE or PDX events.
