Default Sorted Performance Transporter Stolen in Michigan

http://www.world-challenge.com/forum...opic.php?t=868

The Sorted Performance Transporter was stolen last night in the parking lot of a Hampton Inn Hotel in Michigan

The Silver Dodge Dually, 48 foot white three axle trailer, two Dodge SRT-4 WCTCs, one Honda 4-wheeler, and all of our spares were all stolen.

The trailer has SCCA Pro stickers and SPEED World-Challenge stickers on it as well as the paddock space size needed and car numbers 4 and 92.

If you see anything or can help in anyway, please contact Hal Brown at 540-449-1575.

This is Hal Brown's World Challenge rig and cars, pictures are attached.
If you can get the word out ASAP maybe our network will be able to
assist Hal in getting his team's equipment back.

Thank you all for you response and on this. No need to reply to me.

Let's see what we can do to help out our SCCA family members. Mr.

Mike,

Thanks for the help on this. The police have been by and think that this
is definitely a theft.

The truck is a 04-05 Silver Dodge Crew Cab Dually with VA plates. Cloth
interior. No markings on the exterior.

The trailer is a white Haulmark 48 foot gooseneck. No markings on the
exterior except for the required Pro labels with the car numbers and
SCCA Pro racing on them.

The cars are 2 black and silver SRT 4s. They are the Sorted Performance
World Challenge cars. They are owned by Hal Brown 540-449-1575.

Later,

Stacey Grammer
best of luck to them

Cross-posted for just cause.

Race Transporter Stolen in Michigan - be on the lookout
With all the CF members there are here, LEO's in particular, maybe
someone can get a location into the authorities before it is too late.

Chances improve with lots of people looking for the package.

The next event is in Toronto July 06-08. It would be great if the
rig turned up in time and sufficiently intact for them to make the show.

Does anyone know whether racers face penalties for failing to appear?
I was surprised to read that V8 Supercar teams face heavy fines if
they don't make the grid in the Australian series.

Friends tell me that the Dodge Ram is both coveted and easy to boost.
If there is such a thing as a smart thief, maybe he'll take the truck
and leave the trailer intact.

Can anyone post a pix of the Transporter?

Knowing what it looks like would make more sense than pictures of the cars.

I agree.

I parsed the following description
  • Silver 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 dually four door with black wheels.
  • White 48' Gooseneck Haulmark Edge triple axle trailer with polished aluminum wheels.
It had Private Not For Hire near the front on both sides in black.
SCCA Pro stickers and SPEED World-Challenge Stickers 4, 6, 92 as well as the paddock space, 20 x 50,
on the rear door in black.
By itself, the truck would just be another one of thousands made by Dodge.
Adding the trailer makes the package a little more unique. I don't
know how large the stickers on the trailer are - but if they didn't
cover the side, this unit could roll unnoticed down streets here amongst
other truck/trailer combos.

The Haulmark trailer might look like this one from Haulmark's site

From some posts in the SCCA thread

I can't add much more then Hal and Stan have posted. The Sheriff's
Deputy who responded said the guys were real pros. There was no
broken glass or signs of any kind of forced entry. He said thieves
will "profile" trucks with car haulers and follow them to hotels... wait a
while then in mere minutes take off with the whole rig.

What really upset me was that I passed on on three other hotels
because they didn't feel right (dimly lit parking, unsafe looking area,
etc.) and I selected the Hampton Inn because it was a newer hotel and
the parking lot was very well lit. There was even a light post right at
the front of the truck!

The Deputy basically said that if the thieves really want your stuff...
they'll get it. So the lesson here is to make sure your insurance policies
are current and provide enough protection for you. Oh... and I guess
use a toter setup so you can actually sleep with the rig!

So while logically I know I did all I could have done, that doesn't help
me feel any better for the Hal or Stan. The SRT-4 program was
progressing well and we were looking forward to Toronto.

But talk about a sick feeling... coming out of the hotel and seeing an
empty spot where you parked a dually and 48' trailer is NOT something
I wish on anyone... Then to have to make the phone call to Hal... who
was starting his vacation... that ranks as one of my worst days ever!

No news, but here is some more information

The entire rig was stolen from a Hampton Inn at exit 15 off of I75 in Monroe about 25 miles from Livonia, MI.

The cars have Dodge Motorsports engines in them with sealed turbos, oil pans, and valve covers per the rule book.

Each car has carbon fiber hood, deck lid, and 3R racing rear wings. The wheels are SSR Comp wheels in 17" size.

The Honda 4-wheeler was a brand new Honda Foreman red with no dirt on it as it was used as a paddock vehicle.

All of the glass on the cars is lexan, Moton shocks, Eibach springs, racetech racing seats, comp gauges for boost, water temp, and oil pressure.

Carbon fiber front splitters with Dodge Viper Comp Coupe adjusters.

I work at Chrysler and forwarded the info around to some of the SRT guys and those who run other SRT race series.

Hopefully something will turn up.

Possible visual on the trailer in e-KY.

CF member zeus reported seeing an unusually large trailer
and asked for more info/identifying marks.

Edit

Unfortunately, it turns out there is no need to check on
the trailer in e-KY.

From a post at SCCA Pro Racing this morning by the owner

The truck was recovered somewhere near Detroit with minor damage
- the trailer was recovered somewhere else also near Detroit - burned
to a crisp. Contents of trailer were gone.

Please keep your eyes open for these cars and/or parts. Thanks!

Follow-up with further details of parts to watch out for.

I did not have a lojack on it but future trailers will be protected by the
most powerful weapon they will sell me at the gun shop with my angry
*** sitting inside!

Financially this is devastating to our little race team because insurance
doesn't pay for man hours , and blood, sweat and tears. We will make
every effort to go on however!

Other parts that are very specific to these cars are the aluminum 3R
suspension pcs, World Challenge only stamped on the engine controllers,

Ron Davis custom oilcooler/radiators, exhaust depot beast intercoolers,
Stoptech front big brakes...one set of calipers were prototypes and
were gold without Stoptech logos, sealed engines from Dodge.

Both of these cars were built from street cars and do have VIN
numbers which I do not have in front of me but I will post asap.

I will continue to update this info and thanks for your positive posts
and for keeping your eyes open for this stuff.
