Are wheel spacers or adapters ever prohibited by your track or club?
Coworker who used to race with PCA said wheel adapters weren't allowed at his events. But then again, this guy is a complete douchebag and most of what he says is nonsense.
What are your guys experience? My wheel selection is very limited, and wheel adapters are pretty much my only way of running later model OEM wheels that clear my brakes and still offers cheap tire selection.
But I don't want to invest in a wheel/tire combo for racing if it won't pass tech for particular events.
I checked Willow Springs, SpeedVentures, California Speedway, and there's no specific tech sections there.
I haven't checked SCCA or NASA rulebooks yet...

yer buddy sure sounds like a douchebag.
spacers are perfectly safe, as long as your car is set for them. this means high quality spacers (hubcentric and all that jive) and lengthened race studs.
out of curiosity, what width spacer will you be running?

You mean adapter? I'm running 1", but they are not hub centric, it relies on the lug taper to center it. I'd prefer some 1.25" hub centric ones. They bolt to the car, then the wheel bolts to the adapter. Grand total of 40 studs and 40 lugnuts per car.
Spacers to me are giant shims with holes in them.
Same former Porsche owner/douchebag just bought a new Eclipse Spyder. He's been bragging all week to everyone about how it packs 300 hp. Then he went on about his driving skills. I invited him to a track event this fall and he stammered and shut his pie hole pretty quickly.

1" is very big. Why do you such large spacers? Would not a larger offset wheel be safer?
I run 3/8" spacer in the rear with longer ARP studs and Hardened lug nuts.
I do seem to rember some PCA tech sheets did not allow spacers on some cars.

The early C4s use the 1" adapters to allow the use of later model stock wheels. Otherwise you've gotta buy aftermarket wheels with backspacing specifically for the earlier C4s to fit the 275 and wider tires.
