Default Recommended street tires for the track?

This year and last I used the OEM Z51 tires and found them to wear well and pretty decent grip, looking ahead for next season what other options are there for a better choice.

I would prefer something that will work on the C6 OEM rims and be at least close to OEM sizing. Runflats or not is not too critical to me at this point.

Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated.

I'm running Michellin Pilot Sports (because that's what was on the car when I bought it). They do pretty good - especially since I'm a relative noobie.

I think I'll go with Pilot Sport Cups next.
I occassionally drive my car on the street and Hoosiers are too slick for that IMO.

Do the new Toyo R888s come in usable sizes? They have a 245/40r18 and a 295/30r19 ... the latter is a little shorter than stock so I'm not sure about the computer. I'm running the R888s on some CCWs right now (street & track).

I just received may set of four F1 Super Cars GY from tire rack. We have scales here at work that can weigh up to 300 lbs to one hundreds of a pound.

The rears only differied by 0.003 of a pound different (34.55 lbs vs 34.45 lbs). The fronts are 0.0087 of a pound difference (28.85 vs 28.60)

I am very impressed on the tight tolerances of these tires.

I have Nitto 555s on my car. I drove on them at Road Atlanta recently and had a blast. I'm normally on R-compounds, but sometimes it's fun to really scream around turns. Stickys make little noise until it's too late. The Nittos are a little beefier in the front and a little less wide in back, but the same total width.

My wife runs Kumho Ecsta MX for track and street. She's very happy with them.

Michelin PS2's here.

For lapping days they do awesome for the first 5 laps or so then get too hot and get very greasy.

Auto-x they do very well, it's enough heat to keep them warm and sticky but not greasy.

After looking around and talking to a couple of guys I'm leaning towards the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2's.

They're well priced, well rated, and those who have used seem very satisfied. They are not runflats but I can live with that.

Falken Azenis RT-615 or Bridgestone RE01-R. Both are tearing up the National street tire auto-x scene.

Nitto 555RII is a half-street, half R. Faster than anything mentioned above, but wears out quicker as well.

I know some tires do well in auto X as the run times are short, I'd like to know how well they'd standup after a 30 minute stint on a roadracing course?

They will hold up fine. I know a lot of people who run them at the track with good results.

I ran the Nitto's NT555 street tire for along time. 1st on a F150 Lightning and then on a '03 Must/Cobra. They did well for me on track and street both. I ran them in DE 1&2. Even at a track like CMP they were are to kill.

I'm thinking of looking at these. What sizes do you use and where do you get them? It doesn't look they come in either stock or Z06 sizes.

www.edgeracing.com

They have a 275/40R17 and a 315/30R18, which will fit well on Z06 wheels. I have the 315/30R18 on all 4 corners of my C4 on 4 Z06 rear wheels.

Put on a new set before my last outing at Road Atlanta and was very please with them in spite of the 100 degree temps that weekend. Will be trying them at Roebling next weekend. Nice grip, good give when you want it. Aggressive looking tire. C5 XTC
