Help a lady Out Please. Tire Question!!!
I am looking to get my Boy friend (RichieRichZ06) some slicks for some HPDE's coming up. He has been running V710 for the last couple years, but the 315/35/18's are on national backorder. He runs 275/40/17 in front and the 315's in the rear. With these being on backorder and no ETA soon, is the Hoosier R6 the comparable tire? The only problem is the size for the rear is a little different. They make a 315/30/18 and not the 35 series. Is there any problem dropping to the 30 series in the back and staying with the 40 series in the front? Does anybody have this set up and like it, or should we find something else? Will the car look funny with the larger sidewalls on the front and rubber band sidewalls in the rear?? Thanks for the help in advance!

My wife bought me karting tires one time. It was like the best day of my life. The only problem is I have to buy tires for her car for the rest of my life And I run her one year old tires.

R6's recommends a wider rim than the v710's
thats why i use v710 too excellent tire
you should call the guys at tire rack. their add is on the left side of this forum.
make sure you know how wide his rims are
if i had to recommend another tire it would be michelin sport cups( tire rack) or the Nitto NT01's (Discount Tire)
either should match up well to the v710's on the front
but........i am no expert, ask the tire rack.. very nice people or discount tire experts
he should marry you! i wish my wife bought me tires!
(actually she prob would if she which to buy )

Somebody mentioned A6 Vs. R6. I think the observation on timed events is correct. A6 are great for that, but you'll burn 'em off pretty fast. R6 last well, but are harder rubber. Other than that, I don't have much to add, save that the 315/30/18 should work.
Good on you for asking the question at all and getting informed. Trying to get my wife interested in tires... But she's mostly concerned with whether they will stick to the track.

Check out the 295/35-17 Hoosier for the front; it's a little shorter (and a little wider) than the 275/40-17 to help preserve some of the diameter differential front to rear.

I guess you all should know that my last present was a new set of cylinder heads and the labor to have them installed. Keep in mind, this was only a couple months ago. I sent her some flowers to work one day and she ordered up some heads! I guess that I owe her a few more dozen roses.
