That is the kind of series we need over here. I like the fact that they use REAL ZO6's with the OE aluminum frame, LS7's etc, not funny cars.

OK, I just can't understand why I haven't received a single phone call to go over to Europe and drive one of those things accross the finish line?

I keep checking the voice mail and it's the same old insurance company trying to sell policies Have I missed their call?

I only ask for a small costal villa in central Italy with a modest $250k year salary and a couple street cars to get around town. They really don't know what their missing?

Great class of cars I will agree. Too bad that no one else can build Corvettes. Some how Callaway got the rights or some crap like that. I had a guy lined up to build 2-3 cars. He even sent a check to get started. Well after 3-4 weeks and we still couldn't get a rule book for the Vette, he started building some crazy tube frame GT40. They are also racing them down under, in japan, and south africa.

Isn't that what SCCA World Challenge is "supposed" to be? or at least Was....

Was is the key word here. Today's W/C cars are not very close to a "real" C6 ZO6. They do not use the "real" frame (they use the steel frame, sometimes a C5 version) do not use the "real" 427 CID engine, do not use the "real" body, do not use the "real" suspension (all have CNC billet dropped spindles) do not use the "real" transmission etc. The Euro GT3 cars are "real" C6Z's with mods like a cage, fire system, heim jointed suspension, Penske coil overs, AIM digital data system, LS7 motors with limited mods, et all, but are basically tricked out "real" cars.
Depending on the tires used, and what weight they set them at, they could or could not be as quick as the W/C cars. The W/C cars' lap times are limited by the tires to a large extent and if you gave Mr. Curran et all, a choice of tires (Hoosiers for one) you would see an immediate drop in lap times. I have never understood why the Vipers can run a 8L V-10, but the Corvettes cannot run a 427 in W/C, which is one thing in the GT3's favor. It is all cool though!

Looking at the photos I would say those cars are more tricked out than one might think. Just take a look at the uprights. They make the ones popular in world challenge look like simple paperweights. Also, one photo shows custom upper control arm pickup points with the factory arms although the brochure says they are custom arms. Same with the pedal box. those ap pieces are nearly $2000 not including the m/c's. The price stated seems to be way high. A world challenge car costs less to build.

Ok, that is a great car, no doubt. Plenty of thought has gone into it. And it would have been nice to have that series over here in the US. But don't expect SCCA to do something right.

In each series we can only follow the rules and what they allow. And if you don't build to the max of the rules, you are behind from the start.

Which brings me to my point. $185,000 for my #28 World Challenge car with Holinger sequential 6 speed and Bosch ECU with NO Lift Shift seems like a bargin right now.

Operators are standing by now at LG Motorsports

It looks like there is a new video on the site in the media section. An onboard camera from the ADAC race at Hockenheim.
