Sparco EVO Seat Owners - Please Step In
Thinking about getting a Sparco Evo seat for my 99 FRC.
Plan to run car on street and HPDEs. Want to leave the seat in.
How did you like the seat?
Was it easy to install? Any problems?
Any other hardware I should buy with seat?
How does the seat fit? (I am 5' 10" and weigh about 155 w/31" waist).
Can you use regular seat belt with these seats installed?
Thanks

You will love the seat and it will fit you perfectly at those dimensions, as I am about the same....
Do Yourself a favor and buy the HARDBAR seat install kit, and belts ....You wont beat the attention to detail and this will help you with the KISS principle...
Stock belts wont work so well with the race seat at your dimensions, as there will always be an air-gap between you and the belts ....

installs like any other.
you need a mounting bracket.. hardbar, maybe sparco slider on the street to adjust it
i have an evo2.. a little bigger.. im 6' 200 and its nice and snug.
no you cant use the stock belts if you expect them to do anything.
i'd highly recommend reevaluating running it on the street... its very upright.. has little padding.. and if its the right size, is very snug at the hips.. and buckling into a harness every time you get in the car is annoying.. also.. i dont think running 6-pts on the street is exactly DOT legal.

I actually did use it as a DD for several months last summer ('06) pain in the butt getting in and out, and not 100% legal, but once you're in, it's a great seat.

I have an Evo 2 seat and run it on the street, have had it for almost 2 years and I love it. I think its more comfy then stock seat, but I dont daily drive my car.
But I would def buy hardbar harware to mount the seat.

Thanks for all the responses.
The vette is my fun car and is only going to be driven in HPDEs and for fun on the street.
Since this is never going to be a track only car I will be driving it to and from events, and as I said earlier for fun.
If the Evo is not a good choice for a duel purpose seat can anyone suggest a seat that is?

I have an EVO Plus in a C6 Coup.
Love the seat on the track. You simply can't beat it.
I figured I might swap out when not tracking but found the EVO to be comfortable enough to just leave it in.
Longest drive has been to Bowling Green. about 4 hour drive each way and was very comfortable in the seat.
Only issue was not being able to adjust it back for cruising on the expressway.

I find it much more comfotable and supportive than the stock seat. Only drawback is effort required to get in and out. Wouldn't consider removing it. With the Hardbar mounts, it took me about 3 hours to install it because I had to put it in and out three times to get the position adjusted just right.

Thanks. This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for!!
Really appreciate it.

I could use some advice on a seat as well, only I'm 6'2 220, broad shoulders and 36-38 waist, I have corbeaus (a4) in my C5 but they are adjustable, I want a fixed back and I'm not sure if corbeau are legit for track use.

I used the Hardbar universal mount and needed the spacers to get it in correctly. (I would highly recommend this mount)
This pic should give you an idea of the fit. I will get some pics with door open and post for you.
I took the right side seat belt reciever from my OEM seat and installed it on the Sparco. I can now use either the harness system or the OEM seat belt. If I could find another one to have one on both seats, I could swap them out in 15 minutes for sure.
I only get the red seat belt symbol on the dash and have lost the telescopic wheel function. Make sure you have the wheel extended or retracted to where you want it PRIOR to disconnecting the wiring harness.
Hope you get it and get it installed. You will love it.
PS:
thanks to my buddy Sam for helping me install it.

Here are some additional pics of the Sparco seat
I have the Evo Plus with the Hardbar universal mount
Seat installed
Seat height
Right side clearance (note belt receiver from stock seat) Only about 1/4" clearance from widest part of seat to console carpet.
Left Side clearance
With the Evo Plus, I needed to use the spacers in the front for the mount in order to spread the mounting rails far enough apart to put on the mounting pins. I connected the wires to the belt receiver as well.
Heres a tip, if you are planning on taking out the belt receiver from the stock seat, RAISE THE SEAT as high as you can before taking it out. This will give you much more room to manuever the wiring harness out of the seat frame.
I am 5'8" with short legs so I have the seat forward a bit. There is plenty of room to move it back if you are taller. As you can see in the first pic. I also have the seat on the highest adjustment. I may lower it one notch and take it backwards one notch the next time I have the seat out.
