No SCCA autocrosses in S. Florida?
FL SCCA
Aren't there any poor people in Florida who can't afford to road race? With the great weather and easy access to professional sporting venues, I'd figure they'd be running 2x per month.
What's going on here?

Florida region of the SCCA has never been a big autocross region, and this goes back 40 years to when I started autocrossing. There have always been some non-national clubs that did a pretty good job and for that reason SCCA isn't as big down there as it is in other parts of the country.
Equipe Rapide is primarily an autocross oriented club that puts on about 10 events a year in the WPB, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami area...

Also PM Leman, he is from around there and may know the skinny on upcoming events.

I don't know if "Leman" knows anything.
BUT Lehman does know.
South Florida has never had a SCCA solo program. Equipe Rapide---south Florida does have a solo program, and is a solo club.(used to be loosely affliated with SCCA---we do use their rules and classing---but the local club racing einsteins, just thought that a solo program provides course workers and that's it.)
We are having a "State Championships" at Moroso, on the kart track Nov 10th practice and Nov 11th race----erscc.com
The closest SCCA region is CFR(central florida)---they are running October 20th and 21st at SEBRING, again this is a solo event. I think they are cfrsolo.org just not sure.
Also at Buckingham Air field in Fort Myers---Gulfcoastautocrossers.com, on Nov 3 and 4th---3rd on Sat is practice and novice school, Sunday is their monthy event----site is one of THE BEST in the country---(used to be the yearly start for a few years of the national tour, and pro solo program)
one day i would like to try a solo event, but from what i hear, it's just a big gathering of idiots.

Dave? Hey it's Mike in the blue 350Z. You're kidding about the novice school right? I thought they would have had you instructing out there by now.
For those that have never been, the novice school is half a day of basic autocross instruction that comes with a lot of seat time.
(The second half of the day is on the "test and tune" course.)
