R-compound tires vs MPS2s
With my latest upgrade (427 C5R engine) I now need to consider replacement tires. I have narrowed my choice down to either Toyo R888s in 275/35-18 (front) 295/30-19 (rear) or MPS2s in 275/35-18 (front) 345/30-19 (rear). FWIW, the rotational mass delta between the two rear wheel/tire combinations is 6 pounds per side - with the MPS2 combo being the heavier.
Question:
For those of you with experience using both R-compound tires and Michelin Pilot Sport tires, which configuration do you think would provide me the best grip/handling under street driving conditions?
Thanks,
-RR

There's one more option for you now...325/30/19 MPS Cups. That should about take care of the decision for you. I know it's going to work for me.

I have 3 sets of tires, PS2's for winter driving, Nitto R2's for summer, and Kuhmo 710's for the track. PS2's are not R compound tires. They are street tires similar to the GY F1's.
The "R" compound Nitto R2's are much more grippy than the PS2's. They also start out with less tread and don't last as long. Michelin Pilot Cups that Xtreme1 mentioned are comparable to the R2's, or Toyo RA1's.
The PS2's are a great overall street tire with good performance. If you are driving on the street these will give you about the best performance. They are expensive. In this case you pretty much get what you pay for.
