Default Best, but inexpensive intake sytem???

I'm still running the stock intake system in my car and would like to change to a BlackWing or some other sort of ram air sytem.

What's a simple one that works and doesn't cost a bunch?

TIA

K&N or Amsol universial filter. The web sight has all the data on sizes. I think a K&N RF-1040 ($38) is the part number for z06's?

Jody, check e b a y. There are some great 2-filter systems that are dirt cheap. The filters are gauze like K&N, and since the surface area is so large, they definitely will flow well.

just make sure you get one that works with the LS6 MAF, not the earlier LS1 maf. I'd link to one for you, but we aren't supposed to talk about e b a y here.

Sort of like Fight Club....the first rule of e b a y is, there IS NO e b a y.......but I love it.

Jody just get the K&N filter that replaces the factory air box... ram air does not exist and the front intake screns in the facia sent all that flowing air right to the filter.

I really wouldn't bother with anything other than something that brings in cooler air (i.e Vararam, Honker, etc) I went from stock to z06 airbox to blackwing and picked up pretty much nothing, as measured in 1/4 mile results.

If you go blackwing you gotta cut your radiator shroud and go with Icebox or something. Any kinda filter that just sucks underhood air, well, just sucks.

^ No that is not true at all... take a leaf blower to the front bumper on a Z06 and see where all that air goes.

I have blackwing with the radiator shroud cut and icebox. The icebox surrounds the filter so you are only getting air from outside the engine bay.

As a matter of fact I might be selling it all because my car is going through some major changes . I will look into how much I paid and let you know.
