Longest lasting clutch? (Road course & autox)
I've had several racing cars now and have tried a multitude of different clutch brands and designs, but haven't found anything that lasts.
I recently used a 'sintered iron' disk which didn't overheat and grabbed hard, but still didn't last very long.
6 pad ceramic pucks grab well too, but last about half as long.
I'm not generally rough on clutches by nature, but racing is simply demanding. So far I believe the stock replacement disk lasts as long as anything I've tried but they do get hot and slip towards the end of a long set of runs.
I've heard kevlar works well too but it doesn't seem very popular.
I'm willing to spend some good money for something I know would work, anyone???

I just saw and ad for the Quartermaster system on a website that caters to stock car drivers. They do look well built, I'll have to ask those guys if they like them.
Thanks-

My car has been a dual use car it's entire life... I swapped my stock clutch out in '05 w/ 45k on it simply because the drivetrain was out to repair the rear under warranty. I've got anothe 35k on my Luk stage II w/ fidanza aluminum flywheel and it's holding fine. I don't drag race but I drive the car hard, speed shift often, and run 4-6 hpdes a year.

Those Quartermasters look like the right thing, but OMG, my tranny doesn't cost that much!
Still, if it outlasts 3 other clutches, I'm money ahead...

If anyone is interested I have a brand new 7.25" AP racing triple disc with QMI discs (QMI is a direct copy of the AP)...all you need is the correct "button" flywheel. $400+UPS owns it
