Looking for the best/low cost track rim/tires for my C6Z...
I recently started tracking my '07 Z06 in basic track events (not racing). I have heard that using C5 Z06 rims with a good set of stickys is the way to go. The reasoning for the C5 rims, as I understand it, is that you get more tire options and a bit better gearing with the lower profile tires. Is this accurate? Do people use the C5 Z06 rims for the front as well and are they 18" or 17"?
I'd greatly appreciate any insights fellow C6Z trackers might be able to afford me.
Thanks in advance

I am using reproduction C5Z chrome wheels.
Rear 18x12 with Nitto Nt-01 315 30
front 18x10.5 with 275 35
Bob at House of wheels. http://www.houseofwheelsonline.com/
The front only rub the brake duct at full lock. I ran them all summer without any issues.

FS: CCW Classics with NEW Nitto NT-01's
I'm selling some CCW Classic track wheels with new Nitto NT-01 tires, very good setup for DE, etc.
Look in C5 parts for sales section. Titled; "FS: CCW Classics with NEW Nitto NT-01's." not sure how to cross-link....

I'm using OEM Speedline C5Z rear all around (18x10.5). They look small, but work great with good tires. I got mine from House of Wheels, and am getting used slicks from Bob chick.
I tried Repro wheels, but they were a SOLID 10 POUNDS heavier per wheel. They may not all be that heavy, but the OEM speedlines are very light, and the width performs well, even if it looks a bit small.
**painted black, but these are OEM wheels

If you're lopoking for C5 wheels, check your local online classifieds or craigslist for some take-offs. I picked up a set of factory, thin-spoke, C5 wheels for $400 from a guy who was building a track car, but also found numerous ads from people who put on aftermarket or chrome wheels. Mounted them with TPMS and Nitto NT-01s for HPDE. They work great!

Melting Slicks
Over 17,000 track miles on Z with repo wheels.Use stock C6Z offset 18's in front and 18 by 12w repo C5 rear wheels.ALL track wheels become bent sooner or later,Wheels are just another wear item like rotor, pads, tires etc.

I guess, I just don't feel very good extending the wheel like that.

David,
I hope you read this and respond but on another thread I started, the concern posted by another member was that the stock C5 offsets would cause these things to stick out quite a bit. You don't find that to be true or at least enough to care? Is your car stock height? I am lowered.
I was just about to order the same thing from Bob but now I'm not so sure. I was going to run either 305's on all 4 or 295 up front.
TIA
Paul

I dont know about the Z06, but if memory serves me correctly, there is a 23mm difference in offset. That means the C6 wheels sit 23mm farther away from the strut. I personally am just afraid of failing bearing and most importantly, studs!!!
