Never Been Driven in the Rain 1989 Z51?
How many 1989 Corvette Z51 Coupes do you suppose are out there "somewhere" that have less than 23K miles on the odometer, have a completely flawless fit, finish, paint, and interior, have the original eighteen year old OEM factory rock hard Goodyear Gatorback tires still mounted on the car, have CAGS still connected, have all the front camber shims still installed on the front suspension, and the car is NOT an FX3 car and the car does have the 3.54 gears?

Not many. Besides needing tires it probably needs to have the A/C serviced, various engine and drive train seals replaced and probably needs a rering job to remove ring ridges in the cylinders iif you want to run the engine up to red line. Another area that may need servicing is the ABS system since the brake fluid probably wasn't changed to often and has gummed ip the ABS unit.

Don't know about Z51 coupes, but there are at least two convertibles
from that era that have turned up within the past twelve months.

I bought the car yesterday. It is currently sitting in a shop having all fluids flushed and replaced. I have some undeveloped pictures of the car sitting on the rack that I took just to use up the film on my "film" camera.

The came came with personalized plates that bear the simple moniker of "Z51." I suspect the car was in storage for the past eight years, and may have been sold at an estate sale. Carfax tells me that the last private owner registered the car in Bishop, CA. If anyone knows who owned this car, I would love to hear from them. I'm going to try to recreate the pedigree of this rare car.

That's a great road race suspension. Very stiff. 5th gear had problems with serious high speed track use, but otherwise great setup.
The TPI is a torque monster at low RPM's. Should be nice for short tracks.

I sold my 89 vert ,I was original owner, in 2001. It had 43k kms about 26k miles. Still had orginal tires never removed a wheel from the car. Those tires were so hard when you spun them they didn't leave any rubber on the asphalt. I don't recommend this.

Seriously.. That's a very nice car. Keep it that way. We need some survivors.

BTW, "Never been in the rain" doesn't mean the car wasn't inundated with about 40,000 gallons of water at the end of the assembly line at GM.
Great find though! Get everything up to speed and have a blast with her!
Have a good one,
Mike
