Default Will These Fit My C6 For The Track?

I'm about to order a set of track wheels and tires for my 2007 Z51 C6 but I want to double check with you guys. I've been running on the stock tires while I've analyzed this thing to death.

I am prepared to order a set of 4 new Speedline 18x10.5 C5Z wheels from Bob at the House of Wheels and I will run 305/35 RA1's all the way around.

Anyone doing something similar? Any issues with rubbing?

I could drop to a 275/35 in thr front but would like to try the 305's if the fitment will be okay.

Thanks

Gratuitous track picture:

no, wrong offset.
I am sure plenty of people will tell you they are OK.
I put a set on the back of my C6 and they stuck out like Dumbo ears. I cant even imagine how far they would stick out on the front.

Dang man. That burst my bubble. Bob thought they would be fine. His quote "brand new gm 18x10.5 wheels and they will work fine for the track"

So, does that mean I have to order some heavy azz reproduction wheels with a particular offset? I can't afford light weight track wheels, it's just not in the racing budget. What offset do I need?

Anyone?

I'm running C6 offset 18x11 CCW Corsairs with 295s on the front, and 305s on the rear. The rears sit perfect, the fronts stick out. The fronts rub slightly on the fender (and fender liner).

I can only guess that C5 offset wheels with 305s would be worse either at full-lock (rubbing inboard) or with the fender rub (rubbing outboard).

Man I thought I had this all firgured out I've been working on this for months. The Speedlines are light and affordable but I don't want them if it is going to give me problems. I was originally going to buy 4 C6 fronts but I wanted a wider rear than 9.5".

Oh yeah, I'm lowered on stock bolts front and WCC bolts rear so that certainly will play into the mix.

I have a 2006 C6 and I use rear C5 Z06 wheels all around (18x10.5). They seem to work just fine. I have 285's on the front and 315's on the rear. The tires do stick out a bit, but the difference in performance is amazing. Has anyone else tried this combination?

Stock C6 front wheels are 8.5" wide
Take a look at the bodywork to tire clearance in the track pic you posted and guess what could happen with wheels that are 10.5 wide and in the wrong offset.
Have you talked to CCW? CCW wheels are reasonably priced and the fit, quality and service are second to none. I use CCW C14 in 18X10F with 275/35 and 18X11R with 305/35 and love them. I like them so much that I am thinking of buying a set of the C10 to use on the street.

If you can afford ccw's or other custom rims, you can run 18x11's all around (315 hoosiers). I've test-fitted 18x12's on the rear and they fit fine, too, but I don't run them.

If you have the right offset, you can fit a lot of tire under C6 fenders. Do a search under my name and you'll find sizes and all you need to know to run 18x11's. A lot of "knowledgeable" people and vendors often don't know what they're talking about and like to shovel what they've read on the internet. Some don't even know their own product.

FWIW.

I have an 08 Z51 that I put 18x10.5 C5Z wheels w 305/30's on all 4 corners. They will stick out slightly but not a big deal. They will rub the front upper A arm at full lock but should not be a problem on the track potentially only when autocrossing. They also will rub the front fender if you ever experience a turn which requires the front suspension to be fully extended when turning. I plan on running the exact setup you are suggesting (305/35 RA1) next season.

I wish I could be happy with this. Maybe I wouldn't worry so much about the contact with the A-Arm at full lock but I would not enjoy contact with the fenders! I could see that resulting in serious body damage. Besides, any contact like that while on the track could upset the car enough to create more problems.

I wish I could afford a set of CCW wheels but at $2,600, that's just not in the budget.

Anyone with other thoughts? Anyone with a set of used wheels they're looking to unload that will work?

it depends on how particular you are, but they WILL work. Unless your car is slammed, then it doesn't matter if they stick out a little bit. I run the speedline 10.5's on my C5, my C6Z, and I've also run them on a regular C6. I wouldn't do it on the street, but for track action, it's been fine.

My plan is to buy the CCW 18x10 (in standard C6 offset) front wheels and (initially) use the OEM rear wheels. That way I can run 275/35-18 tires up front and 285, 295 or, possibly (bit of a stretch) 305 in the rear. Next winter (or the winter after that ) I would by the 18x11 or 19x11 CCW rear wheels.

Just an FYI, if you're at full lock on track you have much more serious issues than whether or not your tires are going to rub .

I think everyone here realizes that. That's why it was more a comment describing fitment than a concern. Again, I'm much more concerned that the body comes in contact with the tire.

I have come pretty close to that in the go-cart though trying to get the back to slide out
