Default Am I better off running narrower front tires in cool temps?

I will be running my last TT of the season @ Lime Rock in CT on Saturday. The forecast is to be cool (hi 30s to low 40s). I run Kumho Ecsta MX street tires on my C4 coupe.

I can run either a square 285/40/17 setup or a staggered 255/45/17 and 285/40/17.

Any recommendations?

Hi,

Was just at LimeRock 10/26 (with EMRA). I currently run 285x35-18 rear and 275x40-17 front Nitto R2s.

Next season I am switching to 275s all around (tire brand-maybe Hancooks).

I think you can go the fastest with the smallest tire (that the car can safely handle) square.

Let us know your lap times.

Steve

Tire prep - paint those tires the day before the event - well ventalted area. Do the event then toss the tires.
