Default Track Day Check list, do you have one?

I was wondering if you guys are using some kind of check list like the airplane pilots have, just to keep everything under control and not forgetting anything before, and during the track day.

I guess it would be nice to have one.

I'm putting some lists together. When I had no trailer, it was pretty straight forward. Now, with a trailer, there is more junk I need to bring, and more junk I need to bring HOME with me too. I think it's definitely worth doing.

Yeah it's nice to have one. I strated off useing one that they show you at the HPDE and the track days and have only expanded it from there.

It's a good start if your looking for something to start off of. Like the others mine has expanded from that one

I don't have anything on paper, but it's all in my head. I generall get the car up on stands and lay under it for 10-15 minutes just looking around and putting my hands on things. I check all the brake fittings/connections, check the rotors/hubs etc. Check all exhaust connections. Check the trans/dif for leaks etc.

Underhood I check all caps, check the wiring harness for rub at the rear of the driver's side head, check my serp belt, empty my catch can, etc etc.

It becomes second nature.

^ Oh yeah... forgot about the checklist for **** I take... I write it out for that. I've found that if you take it you won't need it. I bring almost all my tools, spare everything, fluids etc etc etc.

I just have a tub that is for track events, I keep spare tools/fluids in there and just have to take the tub with me. When I prep the car I also toss things in there that I think I may need. For example, when putting my track pads on I would remember to put those wrenches into the tub. The tub I have is just a large box but it's plastic and durable. The small spare jack won't fall through the bottom of it.

Where a list will really help is when you have help. I've had folks offer to help me set up and clean up, and so forth, and it would have been nice to hand them a list and say "start at #5, and thanks!"

Most important when you BUY a track car, be SURE that you get the setup and "checklist" included in the deal. And buy a sinning car;-)

My trailer has a storage box so that gets filled up at the start of the season and everything stays in it and I only have to replnish things that are consumable like oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc. I have a small list for stuff that goes in my truck like my tool box, jump start box, air compressor, and floor jack and jack stands. I keep my helmet in a bag along with a couple pairs of gloves so that's easy to grab and toss in.

Then I have a separate sheet for doing a car maintenance and safety inspection before I leave so I won't have any issues with the tech inspection at an event.

Now that the '07 season is over or almost over, and most of us will have some time to kill, how about everyone helping to compile a list. We can then pick out the items which apply to each of us. Maybe break it down to catagories. Trailer equipment, extra car parts, all necessary safety equipment, fluids, drivers gear, etc.
This would sure help us newer track drivers.

Great start - I have an enclosed trailer - but do not have a complete duplicate set of tools/jacks (yet!) for the trailer so some are always in the "other' location when I need them.

There is the car prep checklist..

There is the track box checklist (for the non-trialer/open trailer crowd)..

There is the food/camping gear checklist (I have dedicated boxes in the trailer) for the paddock campers...

There is the trailer checklist (amazing how the brake fluid does not get replenished when you need it the most)

There is the checklist as you head to grid (helmet, straps, AH Off, intercom, etc.) - I have been known to leave AH on when I cycled the power for some reason...

Then I generally load all the tires/wheels that will fit in the truck bed...

I keep my trailer in my driveway, its become its own storage unit, everything track oriented for teh most part stays in the trailer own tools, jackstands, ramps, etc. makes packing that much easier, all I need to do is neaten it up and secure it all down (on yeah and put the car in the back) Just found it easier to buy extra stuff for the trailer besides the normal tools in the shop because double duty with teh tools and crap would totally confuse me and I know I'd forget stuff.
