155 mph @ VIR back straight
Just curious of what kind of speeds are being obtained on VIR back straight. My first HPDE there with NCM back in July I couldn't make 150 mph. I could get close at 149 mph. This past Monday Nov. 19 at a HPDE by TrackDaze I made 155 mph. I don't know what the difference in speeds is due to unless it's temperature related. It was a bit cooler Nov. 19 but not a big difference, maybe around 15 to 20 degrees. Could the temperature make that big a difference?

Proper entry and Exit from the preceeding turns is the key to speed on the straights. I think that your familiarity with the track has a lot to do with your increased speed. Cooler ambient air allows more HP which helps too.

Good point, I really didn't think about being more familiar with the track. Maybe next time I can do even better, although what top speed one can obtain on the longest straight is a small percentage of overall performance on a road course.

With those mods my 155 in a totally stock C6Z all the way down to the tires sounds good to me. I was going to shoot for 160 next time but that's probably out of reach for total stock. When I say total stock I mean total stock, no tune, factory air filter, oem tires etc.

you do get to a point where trying to shave time or decrease lap times gets harder and harder as it drops. I guess that is the fun of it.

I'd think the back straight speeds are least important. And if yo uare taking the time to look right before braking . If you concentrate too much on the back straight speed you will end up overshooting the braking zone (Assuming you arent coasting for a while). Fastest back straight speed does not equal fastest lap.
Just my opinion.

Few run stock tire sizes on the track. One would have to calculate very closely the actual adjusted speed of the vehicle to compare one vehicle with another. Running 305's on the rear of my Z (see mods in sig) I realized best of only 145 mph my one trip there. Of course, my TB was acting up and went into "limp home" mode as I rounded Oak Tree my last lap. So, I probably wasn't 100% that day when it was half way working.
