Default Spindle Vent Do's And Dont's

I have an 02 Z06 and one of the next items on the improvment list is front brake cooling. I'm interested is a simple cost effective setup that dosen't require a lot of modification or rub the front tires. Also, any help on the set up would be appreciated, thanks.

There are proven setups out there. Probably the best is a combination of the LG or Phoenix spindle ducts and the Rippie duct extenders to take the cool air from the stock outlet to the spindle ducts. This combo is relatively time and $ inexpensive to install and does the job of keeping the fronts cool. do a thread search, there are several on installation process with lots of good pics and instructions.

Default ECS Spindle Duct

Here are some installation pictures of installing a hub on a car. The same procedure would be needed for installing the ECS Spindle ducts. ECS Spindle ducts are good quality.

We also sell the extentions.

Won't the C6Z06 ducts work on the C5 as well? Less modification to the fender well?

A vote for DRM ducts (flat against the inner fenderwell), silicone SCAT or SKEET hose and spindle mounts.
Phoeniz are easiest ... just the hose mount ... no backing plate; tap an existing hole and bolt on.
LG and ECS are more effective, as they have a backing plate, require some separation of parts on hub.

I used the C6 Z06 ducts for my C5. they cost less than $20. does take some cutting and taping, but easier than DRM ducts and much cheaper.

The DRM ducts are 3" and the C6 ducts are 2 1/2". I've used them and for HPDEs they seem OK, but obviously the size difference is going to be limiting.

We have a few different options now with all of our kits.

If you want to use the DRM kit on your C5 we now offer our spindle ducts with matching 3.5" inlets.

We also make them for 13" and 14" rotors.

For C6 and C6 Z06 customers we have a complete adapter kit that slides right on, with no need to make any custom fittings, everything is done for you and comes with 3" hose.

Keep in mind that the DRM ducts are not a good fit for the Pfadt adjustable sway-bars. Aaron Pfadt recommends using the C6Z06 ducts. There were reports, however, the the DRM ducts can be made to work with the Pfadt sways.

If a front BBK installation takes about 3 hours, how much extra time would be needed to install the spindle ducts?

I put a 1/4" thick spacer (l~1" diameter plastic washer on the screw that holds duct to frame) behind the DRM duct so it would clear the lever arm on the Pfadt Pfatty bars. Seemed to work, but I do have to pull the wheel and check it out as I have done exactly one track day session with the ducts (before retiring the car for the day for other reasons.)

I just use this car for a few HPDE's and don't want to pull the hubs and make a big deal out of this. All I want to do is put some air on the front rotors as simply as possible. Maybe even remove the ducts between events when the car is used as a driver. Who has the best set up for this application.

you can run the DRM extentions with the tubing and no spindle duct. It is not as effecient, but it better than doing nothing.

Thats perfect. Do you have anymore pics of how you mated the factory ducting to the C6 setup?

Thanks
