Default wheel size for HPDE events

Sorry if this has been covered in the past, but I tried a search on "wheel size", in this section, and got nothing. I bought a 00 FRC to do HPDE events. The car will not be a daily driver. I may use the car this year in One Lap of America so I will need to drive about 5k miles on highways and 7 track events. I mention this because I can't set up the car for stickily track events.

My list of mods so far, has to do with suspensions work. Urethane control arm bushings, and ZO6 sway bars, and maybe springs.

But I will need to buy a set of rims for track tires. I have seen some posts saying people use 10x18 all around. So I thought I would ask for some help. Should I look for a set of zo6 rims stock sizes or should I look for 4, 10x18's. Then the question of tire size. What would be the best tire size for the stock rims and then if I were to go 10x18.
Thanks for any advice you may have.

You could go with a set of used OEM Z06 wheels. That way you could run 275/40x17 in the front and 295/35x18 rear DOT R tires. Another thing you could do is run GS offset ZR1 style wheels. This would allow you to run the 275 in the front with a 315/35x17 rear. The tire diameters with this setup are identical front and rear. You could go with 11x17s all the way around but that is more a track only setup.

The T1 guys usually run a custom 10.5x17 wheel in the front with a 11x17 in the rear and have 315/35x17 tires all the way around.

On my C5 I ran 10.5 x 18 Z06 Speedline Rims with 305/35-18's (Toyo RA1's) on all 4 corners. Worked well for me and allowed me to rotate tires to get maximum wear out of them. JMHO

Bob at House of Wheels has brand new OEM Speedlines available.

It thought the C5 guys used 17x10 front wheels? either way, if you stay with 17x9.5-17x11 you can buy used T1 tires and your good to go for track days for a lot less cash than new tires

Not sure if this is an advantage or not, but if you use "scrub" tires, you will get exposed to all the various tires and styles. Some weekendds you will be on Toyo, some on Hoosiers, others on Kumho. It's very interesting, and somewhat fun to compare how you do. I bought a set of new tires (mostly because I had to) a while back, and it was like being superman. However, I'll be going back to scrubs because of the cost. I get around 1.5x the use out of new tires for around 4x the price.

Boy, getting a lot of good information on this thread. Of course that leads to more questions.
I have heard the term T-1 and while I have never seen a definition, I assume it refers to a road racing class for Corvette's. And from the above replies this class uses 17 inch wheels all around. So my question where and how much do you pay for "scrubs", and are they only available in 17 inch or can you get 18 inch?

SCCA Touring 1 - in over simplified terms, they're stock Vettes/vipers/ferrari/porsche with only safety and reliability mods.

Here's a good example of 1 for sale from Phoenix Performance

for the C5 wheels are either OEM Size or 17x10f and 17x11 rear with 275/295/315 wheels on the front and 315s on the back.

keep your eye on this section of the forum or contact some of the T-1 guys and see if they have any for sale
