Default Silver State Classic - 0ver 200mph on public highway

Hey, I'm new...

found this awesome video from the Silver State Classic in Nevada. Its a road race that anyone can enter with the proper safety specs, but is mostly dominated by vettes, although there are many, many, many cars there altogether. There is some great footage of the race...Check it out. The video is under the Motorsports section on the site.

Welcome.

A few members here participate in ORR and other kinds of high speed
events.

IIRC, Jeffyvette holds top speed honours at 206.**. orangec6 is
another top speed competitor, he ran 201.8 at Maxton in '06. SonnyinVA
runs the Maxton Mile, too - he was at 197ish this year and has intentions
of improving his numbers in the spring. Carl Johansson reached 157ish
at Bonneville last Sept in an high-miler '88 that was pretty much stock,
aside from an intake and some aero cleanup. Carl has future plans, as well.

You might enjoy SonnyinVA's video of his 197.5 run at Maxton, nitrous
engaged at about 0:32.

A run to 191 on another date

Edit: change Bonneyville to Bonneville.

My brother has run the Silver State Classic several times. Initially he ran a Viper GTS and then built a '67 Dodge Dart silhouette car - ARCA style cage and chassis with a dry sump, stroked 360. Blew it up and I don't think he's run it since.
He had a lot of fun.

The Silver State Classic and other similar events also have speed classes for everything from a stock car up to the Unlimited Class. the slowest class in the Silver State is, IIRC, 95MPH. The slower classes are more like Rallye where you have to maintain a certain speed over the distance and you cannot exceed your "Tech" speed.

Still fun.

ECS went to the Silver State this year and will most likely hook up with Sonny next year in the south since it is closer.

Here are some pictures

I've been interested in the Silver Stage Challenge since the early 90's, back when "big red" use to run, but I've never had a chance to get out there. Bob
