you didnt see the log chopper he had hooked up to the steering wheel off to the side? He could have cut down a dozen trees by the end of that vid.
I do have to say though that I would have to stop a couple times to change my shorts if I were riding with him.

Smooth in the cockpit is not always fastest - this video is 20 years old.
It's Stefan Roser in a Group C Turbo Ruf (1987). About 470 bhp, rear wheel drive.
Stefan is ringing this cars neck.

I read somewhere that maximum traction is attained with a 10% tire slip angle. That basically means a slightly slipping tire grips better than a stable tire.

It looked to me like he was inducing oversteer (push) - much of the time. Slows him up and he get on the throttle earlier...without worrying about it swapping ends.
Just a thought.

I guess you don't need a helmet there? I would not want to be a biker around him.He makes me feel good I'm not so choppy or is that they way a Porsche handles?

Also, here is a link of Nurburgring times(it is not completely up to date, perhaps 1 year old) http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...ostid=38044376
An 8:15 20 years ago with no helmet and tires of that era is not too shabby.

Personally, I myself wouldn't mind to have Stefan Roser's driving talent behind the wheel. He isn't a ******.

The car sounds like its on street tires, too. Interesting that they have a C6 credited with the same 8:15 on that list.

Loving all the critics here, that guy has way more skill than anyone posting in this thread. It's an evil older model porsche on yestertech suspension and tires on a bumpy "green hell", go try it and make it look smoother then you can judge.
On top of that he drifted through several turns, had to slow for bikers and hazzards and still ran an 8:15!!!!!!!!!
Surely you guys can see better than that.

His nickname is Sideways Stefan Roser. It is my understanding that he was test driver for Ruf. The oversteer was deliberate for the video.
There are actually two videos, thsi one and another taken in copter following him aorund the "Ring".

wow the critics here are hilarious, a lot of the basic rules of grip racing is instiled a little to well in some of you guys. Obviously he could drive smoothly if he wanted... This guy has great car control skills which you need if you are ever going to explore the true limits of a car. Being able to take that car to its limits and holding it the way he does in that video says a lot about his skill level. Bravo
