Default Nitto IIR's Discontinued?

Making some plans concerning wheels/tires and wondered if it is known if Nitto plans to continue with the 555 IIR's seeing as they have only offered 3 sizes in that model and the NT01 seems to be taking the majority of the limelight (lots of sizes, popularity).

I realize the two are slightly different niches, but considering the size of both of the audiences...seems to be hard to justify both.

Thanks!

It seems as if the NTo1 is indeed the "replacement" tire for the 555RII. Toyo has released the new R888 (same compound as the NTo1) and it looks like it will replace the RA1.

It also seems like the manufacturers are starting to make more 18" sizes and less 17's..............could be time for new wheels.

I'd love to move to a tire like that but they do not make the right sizes for 18's.

I run 18x9.5's in the front and 18x10's in the rear. 275/40/18 in front and 285/35/18 in the rear.

Nothing for the rears is the right diameter except for the 305/35 and will that fit under the car on a 10" rim?

I hate moving upto 19's...but thats the only place I can get a matching set.

Even if I run the 305 I'd rather have an 11" rim than a 10".

I would DD these tires.

Chart shows the 305/35r18 good from 10-12in rims.

And it fits under the car? No sticking out?

Or is it the 335's that stick out?

That'll depend more on your wheel than the tire... on my C6 with 18x11 CCW Corsairs the 305s in the rear fit perfect. The 295s up front stick out a bit-- they're also on an 18x11.

Discount Tire has the IIR's on special for like over a year now...but not all three sizes.

I've used the IIR as a daily driver/competition tire for 8000 miles and certainly prefer it to the nearly bald NT01. Prices aren't that much different (186 vs 198), but not sure if the NT01 is entirely usable in Florida downpours.

I recall Nitto emailing me that the IIR was going to be offered in more sizes, but then I see the NT came out and no more talk of 315's, etc.

Just curious. New wheels are expensive and the tires are 50% more too! Ack!
