*New In Car Video from Sebring LG Motorsports Tire Test.
Hi Guys,
Here is my last and final in car video from our #28 World Challenge car. It was sold to Brian Kubinski the day after this tire test. We ran with the 45% restrictor plate installed but at ALMS weight for comparison.
This test was done during a "Chinn Track Day" with a ton of cars on the track and I had to wait for a "wave by" per the rules. You will see a ton of passes just for fun but still an interesting test.
I also want to thank "Chinn" for letting me be part of the track day.
We ran with full fuel and ran a full session which was 55 minutes straight with just one tire pressure checking stop. We even ran out of gas burning a full tank in the session.
Our best time of the day was in the 2:05.xx area but that is about 3 seconds off the real ALMS GT2 Pole time but in the range of the majority of the race times. Most of the times were in the 2:07-2:08 range even with some traffic. It was not easy running with 40 cars on track with various lap time capabilities.
Still, it gave us a window on what to expect with the tires in a long run even though the ALMS GT2 car is much different than the WC car.
Our next video will be from our GT2 ALMS Car, also from Sebring for the 12 hour.

****PS, Did I mention that we did this with our LG COIL OVER SHOCK PACKAGE
Thanks

the video is in fast forward right? Must have been a bunch of tennis elbow after that event from point-bys..
Will AMLS let you post videos during the season?

NO! Metal, the pedal was to the Metal, not the WOOD
I think that we will be able to post video from the races or if not then just the practices in ALMS.
Thanks guys. We will be making our Tire Choice anouncement very soon. We are very happy with our choice and the cooperation that we have been given for tests like this one.
Thanks guys,
See you at the races

omg!!!!!! I have done sebring 3 times with SAFE and now feel like I should burn my car and use a walker. If it wasn't for the over taking of other vehicles I would swear this was on fast forward. That was incredible ; I didn't even think tires could do that.
I ran the next day and missed this
Thanks I think.

Lou, all I have to say is
Enjoyed it so much I watched it twice....32 minutes of kewl noise. Man that car is "angry". I'd like to see how fast it would go without that restrictor
You were passing FAST cars , like they were fence posts.

Like the C5R link in my sig I have watch so many times it is :o :o I would have to add this to watch on a daily basis also just sounds awesome. Lucky for me it wasn't posted earlier when the 28 car was forsale I would have tried to rob a bank.
I thought the same as "anotherone" above I would burn my car!

Thanks guys,
We left the restrictor in to be closer to the ALMS power levels. We still had about 20 more hp than the ALMS car but about 40 less torque than we will have.
The WC Car is about 1" higher ride height than we will run and the front of the WC Car could not fit the bigger GT2 tires that we will run, so the front of the car will get about 1.5" wider tires and the rears will get a 1.5" wider wheel too. The brakeing zone will be much later with the larger tires on it.
I would suspect that the ALMS car will be more like a real race car. Closer to a Prototype than a street car. The unsprung weight will be about half of the WC Car and the Riley Geometry will be built for the exact ride height of 2" rather than trying to lower a Stock Corvette and living with whatever Geometry we ended up with.
The GT2 Transmission will allow the use of 1st gear in the hairpin and up to 6th on the straight, so we will get better torque multiplication with the gearing. And we will be able to tailor the ratios to fit the corner exit with the most torque.
And the GT2 Transaxle will also have a "tuneable" differential to dial it in for the best corner exit etc.
The car in the test also did not have traction control because the rear tires were so much larger than the WC tires, that the Bosch ECU turned it off, and we didn't have the software with us to change the tire roll out numbers.
I have mortgaged or sold everything that I could to make this happen so we are "all in" so to speak.
So if someone would just make me an offer on Kubinski's WC Car, life would be good.
Raft, we have the full 3" C5 mufflers in now. "the Big 3" Cat back is the name we gave them. "Have your people call my person" and we can get one out to you.
The GT2 car will have the exhaust split with one pipe out each side so the real cool sound will be replaced with a "Thumpidy thump" which I am not thrilled about.
I might have to figure out a way to change that.
Thanks

Lou,
I have got a whole bunch of question for you/your people about LG exhaust systems, diff/trans coolers and WCGT car type stuff, but I know that you and your guys are extremely busy right now preparing for your new endevour, and I am currently sitting in a hospital room with my wife recovering from surgery today. I will call you/your people real soon. thanks !!!!

Are the headers for the ALMS car goign to be LG pros , or are they going to be fenderwell type headers like the C6R ???? The WCGT car of yours makes the nastiest of noises....I love it .

My Wife was from Montclair and I was from Geneva NY, inbetween Rochester and Syracuse, so I came to TEXAS because I hated all that snow!!!
Now we can test the race car 11 1/2 months a year.
My buddy lives in Minnesota and he says they "Ice Race 11 months a year. But they would Ice Race 12 months but it is TOO COLD"
See you in Sebring.
Thanks
