Default Traqmate mounting in C6??

I just bought the Traqmate data system. The "brain" has to be SECURED in the car. For those of you that have this system in a C6, where did you mount the "brain" and the digital readout?

I've just been velcro'ing it in the center console. However it's not perfectly level; it tilts forward a bit which skews the braking/acceleration Gs. It also gets VERY HOT there when tracking the car. At least once it has shut off from the heat.

Taping it in the rear works well. But, it's hard to reach and isn't exactly the most secure for track use.

Anybody got the best solution?

I mount mine sesnor unit in the passenger floorboard. Although mine is a racecar with no passenger seat, you could do the same just mount it ahead of the seat a little, as close to the middle of the car as possible.

Hey jster171, I think your avatar pic is from the NCM last year at VIR right? I was the LMB coupe from Canada with the #117, first time I've noticed you posting, good to see you.

At one time I looked at the Traqmate system but now I'm going to be selling a line of GPS lap timers so that is what I'm going with. Good luck with your system!

I've used a suction cup for mounting the display and it's worked okay. I saw a GT3RS that had a pretty cool set up. He had a mount that he got from www.proclipusa.com They have something for the C6 which I think I'm going to try. You can pretty much use anything designed for mounting a sat radio, gps, etc. which has the same 4 screw pattern as the back of the Traqmate.

I used a friends at one event........we just stuck it to the carpet in the rear of the car with Velcro......the loop half, not the fuzzy side. Worked great...stuck quite well and can be removed.

Check out about 20 sec into this video to see;

Also, what about the magnetic antenna on the roof? Velcro there as well?

I just use a strong double sided tape on the rear window. Just make sure both surfaces are clean.
