Default Got a track car

After a few track days, I decided I don't want to risk my z06 on the track any more. I'm slowly cleaning the vette up to make it a nice street car. Here's the new track toy:

1987 bmw 325is. I haven't had it out on the track yet, but I know that, obviously, its dynamics are going to be totally different from the vette. In a nutshell, what do I need to know about tracking a car that's shorter, narrower, taller, lighter, and stickier than what I'm used to?

You need to know that it is shorter, narrower, taller, lighter, and stickier.

Congratulations young Carnut101. I am glad to see little grasshopper getting serious about his track business.

Are you going to do the SCCA SuperSchool at the end of February at Willow Springs?

It looks like you need a trailer and a tow rig for that set-up. What's ya gonna do?

i have found that its easier to go from a big hi hp cars to a smaller car. of course you have to be patient and learn the cars habits but. the sensations of grip and steering feed back seam ( in my experience ) to be very similar... iv driven a few diferent cars on track. bmw 325,lotus elise, spec miatia, formula atlantic,c4,c5 vets,,,

Hi Oli

I heard a lot of good things about the SCCA school, but I the way things are going with school, I don't know if I'll be able to attend. Then again, February is the first month of a new semester, so the teachers might be a little more relaxed. It's a maybe.

We're selling my mom's Navigator, so I'm not going to have anything to tow with. I definitely will need something eventually, but I doubt that will happen before summer (not enough chances to go to the track). The car is somehow registered for use on public roads ( ), so for the next few months, I'll probably just drive to the track. There's plenty of room in it for an extra set of tires, brakes, and tools. The only issue will be driving for an hour to willow or cal speedway on the freeway with 4.10 gears and dumped exhaust .
