I use to do my 4-stroke motorcycle mods years ago at my friends shop. Doubt I would tackle a car engine would be nice but I'll stick to beating on them with a pedal.

These are all going into C5 cars. When the new Z06 came out, I got asked "what are you going to do for work" My answer "was to upgrade a ton of C5s!!!" You can buy lots of upgrades for the 65k a new Z06 cost!!!

All of them should be done by the end of the week! Then in comes the next projects

Here are some head and camshafts. New lifters should be soaked in oil for a couple days.

I'm sure Doug would show you how to lap valves. After 28 years of lapping valves, he would love someone that would do it for him. Every valve gets lapped by hand, checked for spring installed heights (.005), flow benched, deburred, pressure checked, milled, every spring is tested at 3 different heights, every cam gets checked. Some shops only check a few and pray the rest are right, not around here. Doug will not let that happen even if the time is running out on a project.

I worked in the engine shop for about 6 years total of my life. One year when I was about 13 years old. Then when I was about 19 or so. Then a 3 year from 2000-2003. It was a great!!! I learned from Doug, and his friends, like uncle Jack and Grandpa. After that I have been running the mail order and holding down the office. They still give me crap about when I dropped a engine off the stand when I was 13 My knee still hurts to this day. They give me crap about falling asleep in the drivers chair at 3:30 AM bleeding brakes and filling the tranny and diff.

The oil soaks into the roller bearings. It helps with the first startup wear and tear. How long does it take to get the neddle bearings soaked in a fresh engine, the answer is too long!
Most of the engines get put on the engine dyno for the first start up and break in, cranking with no sparkplugs.

Nothing better then a heavy piston spinning at that RPM. I think the Nascar name is over used. The Nascar engine today are way trick, this engine doesn't seem that trick. 8000 rpm is small displacement way of making power. Big bore and stroke engines pull and don't need the rpm to make it happen.

Here are a couple more pictures!!! These are pistons from about 2 years ago. I'm too much of a racer to show you todays pistons. But they are all coated now, every piston installed into a engine at DRM is coated. Also a picture of a C5R block in the hone tank! This flowbench has had more heads on it then I can remember. Every head gets checked!!!
I also saw the lastest issue of Corvette Mag, with our testing on the new Z06. Go to your local news stand and pick up a copy!!!

I think they mean nascar series....not Cup. Didn't they develope an LS2 for one of their series (regional) ....sort of like ASA LS1??

What dry sump are you using??
