Jon K/Mongoose Motorsports
So it's time to represent the Corvette community in that strange way again - with those replicas. This year I have put together a program for Mongoose Motorsports that tries to hit a bunch of interesting events to show off the cars.
This is our release, and I hope to see a bunch of you out at the track, if you see me or see the car come say hi. Our first event is Feb 9-10 at Carolina Motorsports Park.
Jon Krolewicz and Mongoose Motorsports to tackle tracks across the US in 2008.
In 2008 Mongoose Motorsports will expand on its 2007 motorsports success with a schedule that will show off the capabilities of both the GTP and Grand Sport Replicas.
Jon Krolewicz will be handling the bulk of the driving duties for the team as they continue to work together to develop the GTP and make both replicas a formidable force on tracks across the country.
The 2008 schedule will include time trials, autocross, drag racing and a top speed contest. Depending on scheduling, the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine Ultimate Track Car Challenge may also be added to the schedule.
Mongoose Motorsports, based out of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio builds replicas of the Grand Sport and GTP. Mongoose Motorsports will detail its racing at www.racemongoose.com
The Mongoose Motorsport GTP at its shakedown run at Nelson Ledges Racecourse in Ohio.
The Mongoose Motorsports Grand Sport on the autocross at the 2007 Kit Car Run N’ Gun.

We are very curious as to what the car will do, and I plan to work up to speed slowly. At gateway Aaron and I were probably in the 150-155 range on the front straight, and the car was plenty planted, so it's going to be interesting to see what kind of speed the car has in it.

Come play at Maxton with me. Of all the events on that schedule, that one will be different for me.

Mildly diverging topic - You going to Daytona this weekend?

I have a guy here in town that is in the ECTA, I am hoping he could run me through it.. though I do worry that because the safety is a little bit different the "normal" roadrace specs won't work. For instance, because people like to put things like tiny brakes on their cars to save weight, any car expected to go above 175 needs a parachute..
So even if I slap a big-brake kit on the GTP, and have huge tires, we get to spend $500-600 on a parachute setup...
Mongoose wants it very bad though, and I want to see what the car will do also, combine that with Hot Rod Magazine publicity, and yuu get a good event to spend money on.
Daytona - I haven't decided yet. There are all kinds of mixed emotions on that, I had offers for rides that were too expensive, even though they were willing to cut the prices in half for me.. going and watching people drive in a race that I feel like I should be in but am not because money displaces tallent tends to put me in a foul mood.
If I miss it, it will be a sad deal for me though.. I have not missed a Rolex 24 since 1991..

Talent goes only so far in racing unfortunately - luck is needed if money is an issue.
