Default cheapest way into 245 fronts and 285 rears, 17"s all around?

Hey,
I have a C6 Z51 and I'm having a hard time finding cheap wheels that will fit the tire sizes that I want.

My goal is 17"s all the way around, with 245 or 255 in the fronts and 275 or 285 in the back. They will be track only wheels/tires.

The Motorsport C5Z 17x8.5 (+56 mm) replicas will fit perfectly in the front, but I can't find any matching 17x9.5 that will fit in the back without sticking out. The closest I can find will stick out 1.9 cm according to the offset calculator that I use.

I understand that if I put 17"s in the front, that I will need to use C5 rotors and C5 caliper brackets... which is fine.

Any tips or suggestions? Thanks.

Cuz they are the stock sizes and are cheap? Also partially because I don't know any better.

What sizes would you recommend that would give me access to popular (and cheap) wheel/tire sizes?

Oh, also because I heard that if I increase my front tire width over stock without increasing the rear width, it would cause the car to understeer. I know I can fix that with some suspension adjustments, but I'm not ready to get into all that.

I just want to upgrade to stickier tires while maintaining the car's current handling characteristics (you know, minus tons more grip).

Please reconsider placing a 245 or 255 on the front and 275 or 285 on the rear for HPDE road course events. If you only want to install 17" wheels to keep costs down, then look at the Grand Sport (GS) or ZR-1 Repros, which are 17" front and rear. Stock C6 wheels are 18x8.5 and 19x10, so you're going to need a new set of wheels anyway.

O.E. Concept repros have an excellent reputation, used by many on the track and will give you 17x9.5 (+56mm) and 17x11 (+50mm). They are cheap compared to other options. Kumho V710 Ecsta track tires come in 295/40ZR17 & 315/35ZR17 at the Tire Rack. I have a set of '04 Calipers & Brackets with Goodridge SS brake lines for only $400 shipped.

good tires are not cheap. Buying a small tire because it is cheap will probably just be in the initial cost. You will would probably tear up a small tire faster which will cost you more per mile. You could add 10 mm to stock width on stock rims. Check tirerack.com and see what is available. They also have fitment charts. GS rims are nice but then you need to but rims.
