Default Scroth Harness

Any reason why it seems like the Scroth harnesses are the preferred brand???

Seems like Simpson has a great name and are more readily available....

I use Schroth mainly because I learned about them during my German car days. I trust their quality.

I'd say that G-Force is on the low end of belts, but if they passed certification, I don't see why they aren't just as safe as the others.

FYI.. Schroth is pronounced as "Shroat".

Nowhere. The US distributor is www.hmsmotorsport.com Make sure that you call to order so that you get the right harness for your application. They are quite readily available, you just have to know where to look. Good choice There are three cars at this address with Schroth harnesses.

I was buying Crow they reweb and check them for 40 bucks which is nice. Some companies won't reweb.

My vote is that for some enthusiasts, the marketing of certain versions
of the Schroth as street-legal replacement harnesses (along with word
-of-mouth repetition of this marketing) has had an influential effect on
the selection of Schroth harnesses. If this is a factor for you, then
read on.

The phrase "DOT-approved" is used to describe the Rallye 4 ASM
harness.

Those who are interested might want to read the documents that
HMS has posted:

FMVSS 209 Specification (144.47 KB)

NHTSA Letter of Approval (2.52 MB)

Rather than being a letter of approval, the second document seems
to set out some deficiencies (appearance of non-compliance with
Sec 208 - pg 3) and some caveats (pg 4) as regards use in place of
or in tandem with OEM restraints.

Whichever brand is selected, consider what kind of attachments
(bolt/snap) and method of adjustment (up/down) works best for you.
Look into the companion hardware offered in order to see what is
required for your application and gather as much of the equipment
required as possible in as few iterations as necessary.

I bought mine from www.discoveryparts.com but they seem to have had a small price increase since I bought mine.

I've used Schroth, Simpson, Impact.

The best are Willians.

Yea, I bought my first set because because a lot of the open wheel guys I know used them. Then I started to notice them on the pro cars a lot, even on tv with the world rally cars.
They are fairly expensive but very hi quality. The adjusters are the best I've used and they have some options like quick release adjusters.

One note on belts, in SCCA, if the belts are rated SFI, they're good for only 2 years. If they're rated FIA, they're good for 5 years.

For what it's worth, the C6.R's run Willans.

I use Simpson in my dirt car they are reasonably priced $150 for 5 point latch link and they make them when you order them so your date stamp doesn’t have months ln them before you get them . I never buy anything I can’t pronounce.

Schroth are FIA approved btw..

I bought them because of their reputation and I also liked their adjusters and cam lock.

IMO the best reason for using schroth is that thye hold the patent on the hybrid cam lock. This allows the right shoulder harness to be mounted to the cam instead of the right lap belt. This is important because then the 6pt sub belts can be attached directly through the laps and control them for faster lockup in a crash. You can also do this with a standard 6 pt if you use a v ot t sub but those crush your *****. So if you like room for the privates use the hybrid schroth with 6pt sub straps to the laps. JOE at HMSmotorsports will tell you more about it
