Default First outing.

Well I just completed my first track event in my 00FRC. Prior to the event I replaced the rear spring with a zo6 spring installed z06 shocks and Hotchkis Sway Bars, and Urethane bushings all around.
I bought some uesd zo6 rims and mounted Nitto NTO1's 275/40/17,315/30/18.

All I can say is WOW. The car felt like it was on rails, and stopped on a dime. (Hawk blue's). It stopped so well I had to get back on the gas because I was short of the turn in. The only thing that was a problem, and a big problem was the lack of a secure seat. I was all over the car. Most of the time I was pushing on the dead peddle to try to keep my balance. In hard right turns I could feel the speaker grill in the door flexing from my leg being pushed against it.

I bought a Autopower roll bar, but think I will go the Harness bar route instead. And of course get a decent seat.

My next outing is at Roebling Road in March. I hope to have the seat in by then, was thinking of doing headers and a tune but maybe save that for later and concentrate on the interior mods to help handling.

Bottom line I couldn't be happier. Previous to the Corvette I have tracked a Mustang Cobra and a 427 Cobra. The Corvette while not as powerful as the others handles twice as well. So maybe with some more power down the road ,who knows.

pressing on a Dead Pedal hard and they will break. Get a spare for 10 bucks. It is bad trying to drive without one. I broke a few beofre a Kirkey seat even with the 6 point.

I'm a big believer in seat time first--#1. Fluids & pads yes, #2.

I'm with you on the seats. I track my coupe once a month. It is basically stock except for front brake pads and a Sparco seat I swap in for every event (takes 15 minutes). Seat makes all the difference.

JRZ1,
I am running with Seat Time March 21,22. Its Friday and Saturday Easter weekend. I think you can have a religious experience doing 140 on the front straight.

I ran there with Chin in May 06. It was a two day event I lost my engine (rods thought the oil pan) just after lunch the first day. A very expensive weekend.

Jay
