Default Hot pressures for A048s

This is not actually for a 'vette, but a FD RX7. I have a friend who's at Laguna right now and just called me for advice. But I've never run A048s and this was the only place I could think to ask. So for a full-weight (probably 2800lbs) FD RX7 on decent coil overs & sways, track alignment, and big brakes what pressures (HOT) would you all think for A048s (F: 265/30-18, R: 285/35-18)?

Thanks!

You wont find many in the A048's here either, I've seen a tiny few on the Porsche board (6speedonline), and and there should be a lot whatever the lotus board is, they come stock with them (some models).

And then there is always contacting them and asking, which I think would be the best idea at this point.

28 hot and start them at 23 cold. They will go away in a few cycles and be off about 1-2 seconds from new.

You could kick them up a little for the weight, 30 maybe. I am 1800# and that is what we run them. We had a bit over 500 cars wearing them so we do have some experience with them. Very good and fast tire.

Good and fast? Bleah. I ran them at an autocross on a guys Camaro and they offered zero stick. I much prefer the Toyos to the A048... although I have been considering the A048 as a street tire on my wifes GTI. :-)

Yours is the first bad review of the A048's. I wonder if you had A008's. The 048 tire is very fast on track and much faster than the Goodyears that replaced it. But then we don't run autocross.

I actually liked the A008R and A008RS and A008RSII tires even though they liked high cold pressures they worked really well at the time.

I've never tried to A048Rs on track, just at the autocross, but based on the autocross experience I wouldn't expect much from them. The RA-1s were much better at the time and made a nice rain tire, too.

Maybe I just needed more time on the A048s and in a more familiar car, but that time definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
