If I was being timed I would dig 2nd out of the hairpin, but it's not worth beating up the car for a lapping day & I'm not sure how much faster it actually is. You do risk breaking the rear free by grabbing 2nd because you are applying power as you are making that right hander

Makes sense. I've been using 3rd for all but the straight. I knew 2nd was an option about the hair pin. I wasn't sure about around the bowl. The area out of the bowl has some elevation changes and turns. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd seemed like it might unsettle the car if done at the wrong spot.

Thanks for the insight.

I agree - I don't see how you can "feel" the car and the track without having both hands on the steering wheel to finese the car and make those smooth transitions on the track while pushing the performance envelope. Mike

Different schools of thought I've seen on this. I noticed your hand position stayed in the same place even on hard turns. What do you feel about shuffle steering?

That is what helps a certain someone be as fast as he is.

Nah........I would use 2nd gear in a 350 rwhp car too in certain places. Probably more important the less power that you have

Depends on the circumstances obviously, but I am a firm believer in max-acceleration at all times....

Oh good lord

Danny's insanely fast, talented, and an all around stand up guy. He has quietly and humbly proven it time and time again. But for the love of all things holy, can't we admit that there are other people around here that can drive?!?

I wasn't aware that you've run at grattan & I don't doubt that you would and so would I, but I'm a firm believer of saving my equipment, I don't dig for 2nd to gain a few tenths unless of course it counts & I definitely wouldn't recommend it to a novice on an off camber downhill hairpin.

I also notice how you have your thumbs wrapped inside the wheel. I see alot of this from in car video. It is taught to be a no no due to the fact that you can get your thumbs broke or ripped off in an accident.

I am a firm believer in 2 hands on the wheel. 5 points of contact tell you what the car is doing. 2 hands, 2 feet and one butt.

Good lord is right. Find me where I take anything away from Ken, with my statement? You can't, you are simply being an ignorant a**. My point was both ways can be fast. "Insanely" fast in some cases.

Wasn't neccessarily talking about Grattan, but I have seen your Mid-Ohio video also and how lazy your motor was on the exits of the carousel and the keyhole. Even with the M12 2nd gear can be utilized.

There are multiple ways to skin a cat, they are not all the same, but the end result is the same.....I think . Different strokes for different folks , I guess.

Running TTA in April @ Mid-Ohio ?????
