C4 Tow hooks
I know this is something that was touched on briefly before but I was wondering if anyone can supply me with tow hook info, both how to and pictures would be great! This is only concerning the C4. I need good tow hooks for my C4 full race project. and no, the stock tow points won't work these need to be exposed and easy to get to in the event of an off track excursion!

If you post an email address that I can send pictures to, I will forward a couple for the tow hooks on my C4. Both we pretty easy to fab, and, unfortunately, have been tested and proven

On my C4 race car There are no front marker lights, I use the opening for brake ducts and the tow hook. The tow hook is 1/4 inch steel, one plate a few inches wide 8 long welded onto a base plate with one brace welded to form a triangle half way up the hook part to the base plate. This is bolted to the stock bumper mounts inside the marker light opening. You can think of it as a T. The long skinny piece sticking out the marker opening and the base welded onto this makes the top of the T. The bracing then forms a triangle from the base half way up the Part sticking out the marker hole. The base I shaped to fit into the indent on the face of the bumper cover inside the marker opening.
The rear is a simple cable drilled and looped through the rear mount for the fuel cell and rear frame. My car has been built with an extension to the rear frame to mount the fuel cell and make a rear bumper.

Tow hooks
Chip,
Will send you an email with pictures Saturday when I have working email again. These will be of an '86 dedicated race car. Hooks were made by a local welder, but virtually any welding shop can do it.

C4 Tow Hooks
Info & pictures are in post #4 on the CF thread below.

This is on a dedicated race car, so function is more important than looks.

C 4 Tow Hooks
Did any of you folks fab your tow hooks yet? I am planning on making some for my '90. Should I make a few extra? I will laser cut them out of 7 ga (3/16) or 1/4 inch steel plate. I will work on front hooks first, then rear.

Melting Slicks
I would be interested in some, especially if they are somewhat easy to install.

We put these on my son's '87:
We ordered them here: http://www.ioportracing.com/Merchant...Category_Code=
On the front we eliminated the turn/driving light fixtures. We fabbed up brackets to mount the small sealed beams from a '95 Pontiac GrandAm. Then we used some motorcycle turn signals. On the front one we used a grade 8 bolt/nut/washers to bolt the strap to the side of the frame box behind the front bumper. There's a square opening there that you can put the strap through and bolt it to the frame. This is the best picture I could find on his facebook album:
Here's another shot:
For the back I couldn't find any pictures. We took off the rear license plate. Reach through there and below the opening there is a cross member. We drilled a hole in it and bolted the strap there. We fed the strap out the license plate opening. Then, when he goes on the track he takes off the rear plate and lets the strap hang out there. That way if he needs pulling back on track it won't bend up the license plate. The front one he takes off the turn signal there in case he needs to be pulled back on track so it doesn't break up the turn signal. We put a quick plug on the wiring.
