Default Proper Wing Mounting???

Can a large wing...like th C5r units...be mounted on the rear deck without supports from the frame? My concern is that at speed, the wing will be ripped from the rear deck or damage the deck.
Thanks,
TomK

You want to tie it into the frame at least and to the rear suspension at best. /:\

Will it rip out of the deck? No. Is it the right way to mount it? No. Best to go to the frame through the rear fascia top.

I am installing a world challenge wing from ACP. It came with a deck mount support, which as you guys suggest is better substituted with a frame mounted one. Fortunately Kerry at ACP makes one I am using in trade.

You can mount to the deck lid, and it will not likely come off as long as you keep going straight. Also, you need to use the beefy OEM decklid, NOT a lightweight aftermarket lid.

Idealy however, you want it mounted directly down through the decklid to the frame rails.

I see lots of cars with wings "flopping" around, and the owners don't seem to understand that if the wing rocks backward while in motion, it is losing downforce, and likely creating lift. You want the wing rock solid at ALL speeds, so you can dial in the angle of attack you want, and have it creating steady downforce.
