Default Anybody Going to the Laguna Seca Historic Road races March 14 -16?

I'll be there.... Not racing though. I don't have my Full Competition SCCA license yet. Anyway I'll be doing mechanic work and pit crew for the six cars that we are bringing. I think it is three Feraries, one Lola T-70, Jag Lister, and a 1966 GT-40.

Really anybody out here on the west coast is interested in seeing real race cars from back in the day? My co-worker is racing his 496 ci 1972 GT1 class Vette.

Years ago Corvette forum actually got to have their own parking lot up towards the keyhole. Some of the guys got in on the all Corvette's lapping the course as part of the prerace show each day.

I won't be there but it sounds like fun. a little too far from Indiana for me. I plan to be crewing for a friend at Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio the last weekend of June. He has a 1961 Austin Healey Sprite.

Since the Austin Healey Sprite is the feature car at Mid-Ohio this year we hope it can be there.

Nice car David. Will look for it at Mid-Ohio

Well, from the list of cars, that's gotta be the guys from Intrepid. I've been in that shop.

I would guess you'll be doing the HMSA's at Fernley too.

What are you going to run when you get your license?

I may be interested in doing some crew work at the local stuff.

All I personally own is my 79 434 ci racing Vette. I'm wanting to compete in the 25+ year old SCCA Historic racing. On the local level I have been doing the time trials events at Fernley and Thunder Hill. Last year I was allowed to run HMSA Practice and qualifying thursday and Friday, but not compete because my car doesn't have the historic racing background. I just wasn't thinking when I bought it 28 years ago that i should have bought something raced by a big name team.

I've been helping restore a 72 March F2000. I would like to drive it in HMSA. Yes, these are all cars from Intrepid Racing. It is going to be a tough week. Leave on Sunday with three cars for Phoenix testing. then get back to Reno Thursday eve to offload, race prep and reload 6 cars and off the Laguna for the race weekend.

Here is just a couple of pics.

I've been talking to the San Fransisco region tech inspectors about my cage and the possible requirement to add the Door " X " bars and possibly the additional behind the drivers head 45 degree.

My cage is made of .134 wall 1 3/4 seamless mild steel. Which far exceeds the old rules for both SCCA and NHRA.

I sent you an e-mail

hey George,

If you guys get into a bind and need some local help - give me a call - I can be over there in about 2 hours.

Is that the Jimmy Hall Chapparral with the vacuum cleaner on it - man I was just a kid - but that might be my favorite car of all time - because of the out of the box thinking. and GT40's - thats the coolest looking racecar ever!

Carl Johansson

Oh Yah - stay tuned - I might have a major announcement in the next 3 weeks or so - about a speed event up in your neck of the woods!

Carl, I'm allot more ready this year with 295/315 hoosier r 6's Big brakes with air ducting, 5 speed, low hours on the 434, and the dual adjust QA-1 coil overs up front.

I still have to do some rear gear change to make it be able to use more than just 3-4-5 while racing.

Hi George!

I will be in Salinas Saturday, at my Sister's.
She lives right off 68 on the way to the track.

Wouldn't mind stopping by and saying hello.
Is it possible for a spectator to go into the pits?

I don't see anything on the schedule at Laguna Seca dot com for this weekend.

Would you happen to have details about admission prices, times ??

This is a HMSA event. I'm there with a big rig white car transporter. With red lettering "Intrepid Racing" I'm not sure how they run the pits. At the Reno events the gate was $10 and the paddock was open to all. You might say that you are there with corvette racing as a pit crew member and they would let you in.
